Sky Sports New Deal

So you've already set this week's Star, so we'll read it in there on Thursday, which means an official announcement either tomorrow or Thursday morning. ;)

ACTUALLY don't know whether that will be the case or not ... last time I spoke to SS office today they were still waiting for official confirmation which may not have been forthcoming before press time.

Belle Vue's new stadium ?

NOT far away either...

Again?

"Could", as in "maybe", or "perhaps", or "possibly"...or as in "not at all"? I suppose sooner or later something will be announced, so by the laws of probability, if you keep on predicting it, eventually you will be right.

EXACTLY!

Can you get me an address?  :wink::nono:

Jeez TWK. First you wish some bird 'you fancy' looks like George Clooney, now you want to get your leg over with Phil Rising. When you actually gonna tell us the truth? This is actually like waiting for the Sky deal announcement

NOTHING in SS this week on Sky TV deal ... we have again had to hold an interview with Terry Russell because Sky refuse to say anything publicly although off the record info says it will still be this week. Frustrating or what?

As I've said before, I perfectly understand Sky's position. Whats to announce???? We know they are no longer sponsoring the League. If they are just going to televise some meetings, why not (from their perspective) wait until closer to the date of the first TV meeting?!

As far as any potential League Sponsorship is concerned then I guess GoSpeed/BSPA will have negotiated such a deal knowing whether a TV arrangement is in place, so need the timing of that announcement to coincide with Sky deciding to announce their coverage - assuming it is Sky of course?!

Other media outlets would just go ahead and print what they know, regardless of any official announcement. Appreciate the interview itself may have been given with certain provisios, but that doesn't mean that information sourced elsewhere couldn't be mentioned.

What's the big suspense anyway? Are Sky getting cold feet about the deal?

IN response to those who suggest there is nothing in SS that cannot be found elsewhere ... our winter Best of British series has proved tremendously popular and this week's spotlight on Tai Woffinden is outstanding. Deputy Editor Andrew Skeels, who hails from Scunthorpe and occasionally 'spannered' for Rob Woffinden, has done an excellent job, delving into his intimate knowledge of the family, and Peter Oakes has weighed in with a piece on Peter Adams and his role with the current World Champion.

There is also an excellent feature on the demise of the Isle of Wight and a lengthy interview with Garry Stead.

In answer to the query about readers' letters ... over the past two months SS received on average around six per week. We are considering using some that do not find their way into SS to be included in Speedway Star Xtra, which is currently attracting around 2500 hits per week.

Perhaps you should address that question to Matt Ford, unless he is now subject to some form of gagging order?
