george.m
THAT is the Rider - NOT the Sport in general. I want Speedway to be a prosperous, well run Sport. The rider is part of speedway in my opinion. What would your definition of 'speedway' be then? What about the impact of TV coverage on team sponsorship then? I don't know the answers george - that is precisely why I am questioning the wisdom of Television coverage relative to the acknowledged decline in Crowds. pugwash
Well there's been a number of people who have posted they have rekindled their interest because of Sky.. so we're in the positive for Sky And in the negative for EUROSPORT? The White Knight
If you are questioning the wisdom, then why are you so keen to have an announcement about he TV deal? Just because it would be good to know whether I would be watching Speedway on SKY next Season. OK - on balance I am against the coverage - BUT - if it is on - I WILL watch it. ALL of it. How does that work??? Surely if you're against it you should boycot it by not watching it???

What would I, personally affect were I to, as you suggest, boycott it. Absolutely NOTHING!! Cutting off nose to spite face springs to mind. It would effect the viewing figures, for starters (obviously you alone wouldn't effect it drastically, but if more people were against it, it would). I just can't see the logic of being against something, but still watching it! It's like saying you are against Bullfighting, but watching it, if it was broadcast on Sky! I love Speedway and will watch it every chance I get. I am only against it for the good of the Sport. I love to see it on the Television - there is NO contradiction there. I am NOT against Speedway being on the Television per sé. I just do not think it is good for Speedway that it is broadcast. I hope this helps Hypocrite! Please see my reply to The Abbott george. BWitcher
White Knight, You still haven't come up with a reason why its bad? Who are these people who stop going to their local tracks on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday nights etc because they can watch another team race on a Monday? There is no logic in that argument and nothing to back it up I'm afraid. The damage is merely done by broadcasting meetings in front of a paltry, lifeless crowd. Fix that and reap the rewards. The White Knight
Nope. Hypocrite! Your against Speedway on tv but you still watch it ? talk about double standards . If you cannot see my argument - there is absolutely no point in going on with this. I have tried my very BEST to explain why there is no CONTRADICTION. If you two wish to consider me a hypocrite - then fine - I can deal with that. White Knight, You still haven't come up with a reason why its bad? I have explained that too BW - ultimately it is costing the Sport Spectators, whether it be one person,100, 1000 persons I don't know - BUT it IS costing. You may not wish to believe me - but THAT is how I see it. It is my opinion. Surely you can see that. If the new SKY Deal is FREE to Air as is rumoured then it will cost us through the Gate more if SKY are not putting any Cash in to it. (This all assumes that there IS a Deal).. The Pedaler
GETTING back on topic ... this could actually be THE week! Again? "Could", as in "maybe", or "perhaps", or "possibly"...or as in "not at all"? I suppose sooner or later something will be announced, so by the laws of probability, if you keep on predicting it, eventually you will be right. John Leslie
GETTING back on topic ... this could actually be THE week! So you've already set this week's Star, so we'll read it in there on Thursday, which means an official announcement either tomorrow or Thursday morning.
