SteveLyric2
Do we know whether this will be a Sky announcement or a BSPA announcement? Will it be just about the Sky TV deal, or will it be an announcement of the full package including new League sponsor? You see, now you have at least 2 people to ask - Matt Ford or Philip Rising?! weatherwatcher
Still nothing on the Sky speedway forum. They have appologised for the way they have replied to some earlier post. But are still keeping tight lipped and all they will state is that negotiations are still going on at the moment. So it is still wait and see. Lets hope they can tell everyone what is happening before the season starts.

mike1944
Interesting to note that on the Sky Sports speedway site after a fortnight of no updates they have now started posting new news stories.
manchesterpaul
NEXT week ... In honour of the new upcoming Sky Sports speedway broadcasting deal i've amended the lyrics to an old hit song '2525 (Exordium and Terminus)' by Zagar* & Evans *(no not that one) In the year 2525, if man is still alive If woman can survive, they may find they are Still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal In the year 3535 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie Everything you think, do and say Is in the pill you took today In the year 4545 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal You ain't gonna need your teeth, won't need your eyes You won't find a thing to chew Nobody's gonna look at you In the year 5555 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal Your arms hangin' limp at your sides Your legs got nothin' to do Some machine's doin' that for you In the year 6565 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal Ain't gonna need no husband, won't need no wife You'll pick your son, pick your daughter too From the bottom of a long glass tube In the year 7510 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal If God's a-coming, He oughta make it by then Maybe He'll look around Himself and say "Guess it's time for the Judgement Day" In the year 8510 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal God is gonna shake His mighty head He'll either say, "I'm pleased where man has been" Or tear it down, and start again In the year 9595 still waiting for Speedway's Sky TV deal I'm kinda wonderin' if man is gonna be alive
Hodgy
£17 is fine.I don't buy into this 15 races, = 15 minutes of action which is often trotted out. It's a good 90-120 minutes evening out, a package, where people can watch the racing, have a drink and meet friends, and compared to other sports, £17 is a steal.90 minutes of football = more than £17 at most Championship clubs these days, let alone Premiership. How much for a 20/20 cricket? How much for an evening at the darts?£17 is a good price for an evening out. However, I would add to that it would be nice for promoters to promote a little, and ensure the evening involves other entertainment in-between racing. Don't ask me what, but there must be things promoters can explore and look at to ensure that between races there is other entertainment.I would also like to see clubs ensure family tickets are available and affordable, i.e £40 for family of two adults and three kids. £17 is fine, if I don't watch 15 races to the first bend. Fill in the holes and get some dirt down, create yourself a few racing lines and let's go racing. That's the only way to bring them back, and keep them. It's too borrrring on slick or badly prepared tracks.

Hodgy
Not much different to how it's always been. There wasn't the choice then and was at a time when people could be ar$ed. You've got to shush it up a bit and entertain. A well prepared track can do that safely. People have to go home thinking that was exciting. Not helped by 'Lay Down' Engines. That can't be changed now, the standard of track Preperation can.

No - the Engines can't be changed - or perhaps, eventually - they will have to be. Funny to think that once upon a time our Sport used to be called 'Dirt Track Racing' - you certainly can't call it that these days - there isn't any - DIRT!!!

Grand Central
I was just wondering which of the participants had got that weirdo Charles Saatchi to do their PR? GoSpeed, BSPA or Sky.? Our sport is bedevilled with a long history for ballsing things up. But it really takes a genius of 'cock up' to waste all the 'Good News' vibe of a long term TV deal quite as perfectly as this. The publicicity-shy MrFord, the ever-cryptic Mr Rising and the SGP guy here all profess to have enough inside knowledge to tease us so that the eventual announcement will be a total damp squib. Meanwhile no one has been able to utilise the advertising potential of a TV deal for sponsorship. All winter. But next week we will apparently be told ... with accompanying fanfare ... That Sky will be televising the Belle Vue v Swindon match on April 7. Whether that turns out to be the case or not. I shall stifle my yawn. SPD444
I recall a year or so ago when the Sky deal to show the NFL was up for renewal, and the NFL forum was in complete meltdown, it was only announced days before the first game that a new deal had been done. Don't panic there is still a couple of months to go.

I think you need to attend to your spelling - I think you meant 'Major'. (Sorry for highlighting an obvious spelling mistake screm). It would be good - but - I can't see it happening. Man Utd. 3 Sunderland 1 and we will be out.
