SteveLyric2
Just been noified of a new post on Sky Sports forum. Nothing will be announced until the current contract expires on the 31st of December. So not many more days to wait yet agin till we may hear from them. Exactly what was stated in the Speedway Star a couple of weeks ago!!! The impression given then - by Terry Russell in the same article - was that the emphasis now is on getting a League sponsor - for all 3 leagues - presumably on the back of a TV deal??? pugwash
I can't get my head around this 7 year deal. Sky weren't playing ball at all then they want a 7 year deal? Somehow I just can't trust the orange one.

moxey63
Seems a bit weird that there's no review of the season on Sky at all, But as the above post says, we'll have to wait just a few more days to hear what is actually happening. Not really too bothered about that, Sky not having a highlights show, it was just full of half-eaten races that we've seen the entirety of before, and a programme trying to make excitement from a season not three months on the shelf. Can't believe people actually watched the show (most then criticised it!) or similarly order those GP highlights as soon as the discs are advertised
SteveLyric2
Any review on Sky will only feature EL/PL meeting highlights, unlike previous years with the GPs and World Cup. It will hardly make a 2-hour 'special'! Even with one or two of the better heats from each of the televised league meetings, it will only make a 1 hour programme at best. I'm sure somebody mentioned that Nigel Pearson had tweeted that there is a programme being put together, which will probably be scheduled as soon as any new deal is announced - or not!? moxey63
Sooner SKY shove on a match or two from the previous 15 years of their archive than sit through a review of what was basically (there's that well-worn word) a very poor season in which the Premier League boys really stole the show. Now lets think, maybe Poole Coventry 03, and just to show im not biased, howabout P'Boro Reading 06..

Then people wonder why SKY feel disillusioned and have a can't-be-arsed attitude towards the sport after people's ungrateful attitudes. For all they have done and covered, you still get the smart mouths.

John Leslie
Where have Sky said they're disillusioned and can't be arsed? Didn't you know? They're always willing to stump up a few million quid for a 5-year contract with things they're disillusioned and can't be arsed with....might ask them for a few quid myself
moxey63
OOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Upset a few have I? Just sounds as if they can't be arsed, that's all, as they seem to be comfortable with losing the GPs and don't appear that rushed or fussed with the Elite League. Perhaps the announcement SKY have said they won't be sponsoring the league says something and offers a few clues. On the other hand, it's like that bird you've lived with the last 15 years locking the doors when you're out. You return home and still don't get the hint, despite her being locked in with your best friend - the Formula One fan - who she's dolled herself up for and is looking to chuck you. You've clearly had some disappointments with the opposite sex in your life, but please don't align it to televised speedway!! Happy New Year! weatherwatcher
After what happened with the leak I wouldn't wonder if Poole didn't get any showings if Sky does have the contravt. It was a bit naughty and previous to say the least. And it has all kept us glued to the screens waiting and wondering what is going to happen??????????? george.m
Why all the impatience about the SKY deal? By all accounts there is one. OK we don't know the finer details, but so what. Speedway will be on telly this year and surely that's ultimately what matters. Keep Calm And Watch Speedway on TV
stratton
Give it a couple of years and BT will rival Sky, about time sky have took the p..s for to long.I wanted speedway this year to say stuff you sky we don't care anymore and start afresh.I see a few really good PL meeting,s but that was about it most of the EL stuff served up was total dross i would not really miss the sky meetings.
