Rye House Raiders 2014

I just hope we get some sensible admission prices this time round if the raiders do go ahead. Got to be a maximum of £10 entrance with kids free upto 16. Remember a few seasons back when Len had free entrance for the Raiders. Only a couple of times but it really brought the crowds in.

Those riders would have taken a lot longer to get where they are without the early opportunities at NL level. If we've got 5 lads with potential to progress in the sport on low averages then I don't care if the side get humped home and away personally as then in 2015 they could go out and be play off contenders. X to you too Rockets :P

Just to confirm Shane will not be riding National League this year, he intends to ride for fun at weekends when he feels like it and concentrate on building his buiseness up. The last cpouple of years the cost of competeing has gone through the roof and unless you are rich or have good sponsors or both you struggle. He was working so many hours and every penny was going into it but by the end of the season it had taken its toll so he has come to the decission to just enjoy riding a bike when he can fit it in.

So what happened to the Raiders return?

The Press Release hinting at a possible Rye House Raiders return to the National League seeking possible sponsorship was on December 2 2013. The NL AGM and the non-inclusion announcement of the 2014 NL format came on December 10 2013. I expect we will get a Press Release on the matter soon.

Presumably they will get the same time as I.O.W to enter the league ..Sponsership is obviously required for it to happen and takes time, ,, so dont give up yet things can change overnight ,But as you say nothing coming out of the meeting yet

There's nothing at the moment on the Rye House website in regard to the 'return of the Raiders' after the comment that the side might be back on track in 2014.

All we really know is that the Raiders - just a few days after the return suggestion was made - were not included as starters for next season. The previous Post from two weeks ago gives a link to the Herts Mercury (5/12/13) story on the Raiders.

Shame no Raiders use to like Rye vs Mildy meetings

It is sad there will be no Rye House Raiders in 2014. Even sadder that the main Rye House club after publicising a possible return has offered no explanation why just a few days later it was only through the NL AGM that it was seen no application had been made to return to the National League.

With all due respect it was made clear in the newspaper article that the Raiders future was reliant on sponsorship being in place for the return to be viable. If the application wasn't made then it surely would mean that sponsors were unlikely to become available. Was there really a need for a further press release? Anyone watching NL in recent years at Rye would be aware of the very poor attendance at these meetings, and lets face it running a club even at NL standard isn't cheap especially when the crowds have been poor for the senior side. From a personal point of view i would have loved to see the Raiders back as the PL no longer provides a full calendar. i'm sure if adequate sponsorship was found then a belated application would be gratefully received by the NL

A valid assessment westhamboy66. The point though is that from the time the Press Release (and it was a considerable PR) hinting at a possible Raiders return with a strong youth policy and the need for sponsorship through to the AGM when no application was made for entry was just a few days. Was that a reasonable time period for a sponsor to emereg?

I could be wrong - and there are many who will jump at the chance to confirm this - but it is for that reason I think the club should make an observation on what happened, if only perhaps to bring the matter to an end?

Just a thought as I have enjoyed posting here in the last few days but didn't Wimbledon's officials consider moving to Sittingbourne (Iwade) and would Rye House provide an opportunity perhaps? If there are some spare dates there it seems an opportunity not to be missed. In terms of distance its only half the journey from SW19 to Sittingbourne and there are frequent trains from Liverpool Street to the station 100 metres from the track

Closing date for the National League is 31/01/14
