Rye House Raiders 2014

Recommended Posts

The possible inclusion of Rye House Raiders in the 2014 National League, along with likely but still to be confirmed teams from Plymouth and Scunthorpe is a welcome upturn for the competition next season.

Added to that, doubts about Stoke seem to have been abated, while hopes exist that Isle of Wight will be able to continue.

It appears that this year's NL AGM later this month is going to provide some extremely upbeat news for the competition.

Surprised there has not been any replies to this subject as if it happens it will change things at Kent Kings!

Could Len be a promoter of both clubs?

I am certain that Len Silver is NOT the promoter at Kent Kings. I think it's Roger Cearns. Len was involved at Central Park as co-promoter to comply with regulations that need a first season promoter to have an experienced person working alongside him.

Good news for the National League..This could of course have a big effect on riders going to Kent Kings.. We will have to wait for the conference and see what happens,, but nothing is cast in stone including the possibility of other clubs joining the league

Nobody is a promoter at Kent. NL teams don't have a promoter.

They have two club co-chairmen, and then, I think, the NL as a whole is affiliated to the BSPA, rather than each individual club.

Then the Kent Kings website information may be wrong? It says:

CLUB DETAILS
Central Park Stadium
Church Road, Eurolink, Sittingbourne ME10 3SB
Stadium Office: 01795 475547
General enquiries: speedway@kentkings.co.uk
Kent CTA Fire Kings Speedway
Contacts:
Promoter: Roger Cearns
Co-Promoter: Len Silver
Several other NL websites also name promoters/co-promoters. Just two of them are Stoke and Isle of Wight.

Yes. I assume that was Len Silver as per Kent Kings details.

Be great to see a Raider's return, I'm hoping we put out a young side of raw riders, it's in the best interests of ourselves and Kent to leave Morley and Coles at Central Park IMO. Morley is already a fans favourite and can learn more leading a title challenging Kent side IMO. As for Coles, he needs to start the season at reserve, something you'd hope he would get at Kent. If we put a side of rookies out he'll go into the main team and that's no help for him.

I'd have Simon Lambert head the team, possibly David Mason as a wise head too and the rest 3 pointers.

And see no fans turn up. I agree blood kids but make it competitive at the top end.

This one isn't about the fans through the gate tbh it's about developing our future Rockets. Scunthorpe ran their saints sides a very similar way, blooding youngsters and they churned out the Worralls, Ash Birks, Kyle Howarth, Ash Morris, Stefan Nielsen, James Sarjeant and I'm sure I'm missing a few still. If we could so something similar I'd be more than happy to go through the gates to watch a team of novices develop into future Rockets.

It's too early to be saying who you'd like to see until Rye are actually confirmed imo... but hey, here goes:

1. Simon Lambert 9.46

2. Shane Hazelden 4.77

3. David Mason 6.38

4. Ben Hopwood 6.89

5. Kyle Hughes 6.22

6. 3.00

7. 3.00

I must add, not that I want Ben to leave!

We own Hopwood so it's possible but he's not ever going to get much better. Hughes was fantastic in his season as a Rocket, got a head injury at the end of that year and never been the same rider. I like Hazelden, shame he's retired. I'd have him back if he did change his mind though.

I hope we are confirmed in the league. Lambert makes sense, needs confidence and to get more comfortable round Rye. A NL number one too. After that, Mason is an experienced head would help bring youngsters on. Otherwise pack the side with 3 pointers. No point bringing the team back and using mediocre 20 something's who aren't gonna improve IMO.
