E I Addio
Please enlighten us with the wonderful things you do with your life, so that we can learn. We know that you don't like going to watch Speedway, although you sit reading your old programmes whilst grizzling on about the good old days, and still feel the need to post on web forums. We know you don't watch TV, but still have to rush onto a website first thing next morning to talk about what you claim not to have watched. Help us to do the exciting things you do....as long as it doesn't involve sitting in a rocking chair in your mother's clothes looking at stuffed birds. If I am reading his post #350 correctly it seems he does indeed spend his time looking at stuffed birds, on fast broadband apparently

ScunTel
Did you see that Tai had a tattoo done ahead of the weekend's Sports Personality of the Year? Not too sure about it myself. It's here : http://bit.ly/19tlkDZ

topaz325
I was impressed by the young girl in the Wheelchair (Cockcroft?), A P McCoy the Speedway riders equivalent ("i said to the wife dont tell anyone i,m injured"....punctured lung, broken sternum and ribs ) and the humbling speech by the Basketball coaches from Manchester. Triple.H.
The whole show has become a bit of an embarrassment really, as shown by the number of competitors who couldn't be bothered to turn-up in person. The audience hardly seems to have changed in years, and whilst you probably couldn't argue with Murray and the British Lions, the rest seemed to be scraping the barrel. They certainly scraped the barrel giving saf(small case chosen as choice) an award after his inability to be interviewed by them for so many years I'm very tempted to email the DG and ask wbats going on

moxey63
Time to offer BBC a hand of friendship. Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere, but the gave several mentions today on Radio Five Sportsdesk that Tai Woffinden was staying with Wolverhampton for 2014. Think threats of boycotting SPOTY may have worked. Either that or a quiet news day (sportwise).
Guest
Think threats of boycotting SPOTY may have worked. Is this a joke from a Christmas cracker? The TV audience for SPOTY was more than 14 million viewers. At most the boycott would have been about 10! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Which reminds me, reading the post from gustix, the slow kids from round 'ere just been trick or treating - two months late, at least the penny dropped with them! By the way, in the pre-final result build-up speedway won recognition here: http://squashmad.com/breaking-news/matthew-nominated-for-minority-sports-person-of-the-year-award/ Edited December 20, 2013 by Guest
Guest
This was how the BT sportsman poll was introduced. http://hiw.me/BTSP/status/411452731295936512
John Leslie
I know that as usual I misunderstand what the poll you refer is about but surely it should have its own thread rather than languish in the BBC SPOTY section? Well since it was about another Sports Personality of the Year vote, it seemed sensible to mention it in the Sports Personality thread. And guess what? it worked....people voted....and Tai won. Sorry if this denies you the chance to have a negative moan and make some snide comments about the sport, but I'm sure you can find something else to keep you miserable at Christmas.

salty
I know that as usual I misunderstand what the poll you refer is about but surely it should have its own thread rather than languish in the BBC SPOTY section? I was the person who first mentioned the BT Minority Sports poll on this thread. Thought it was prudent to put it on the BBC thread as it would be noticed by people who were interested in such polls and Tai's presence/non-presence on them. Also I couldn't see any other mention of the BT poll anywhere and couldn't be bothered to start a new thread. In fact you were one of the first to respond with the normal nonsense about how Speedway was never a minority sport in your day, blah, blah, blah etc.
