Bbc Sports Personality Of The Year

Just goers to show if the sport had a higher profile he would have won at a canter. Would Champ from 250/1, raising money for charity with bike rides, the story of his rise in the sport. Yet hardly anyone knows about it.

Instead we were treated to an excruciating interview with Murray who wanted to be anywhere else but excepting the award. Tragic but a fact of life at this moment.

Be fair. In the interview Andy Murray conceded he is not very good at these sort of face-to-face interviews and did apologise for the way in which he may come across to the public at large. For all that, Murray did make it clear how grateful he was for winning the award.

The whole show has become a bit of an embarrassment really, as shown by the number of competitors who couldn't be bothered to turn-up in person. The audience hardly seems to have changed in years, and whilst you probably couldn't argue with Murray and the British Lions, the rest seemed to be scraping the barrel.

How did Tai do??

He won nowt, but did get to present the 'Most Gorgeous Sporting Coach' award to Peter Adams.

I am a little at a loss to understand the reference in regard to Peter Adams being presented with an award by Tai Woffinden. Is it just an 'in joke' that I am missing? And if it did happen, I missed it. I'll confess I did not watch the complete programme - just made quick visits to BBC SPOTY while the adverts were running on ITV 3.

I am left to question the sanity of speedway fans this morning.

I have long believed many only continue to watch the poor product because they have nothing really better to do with their nights - whether it's Monday at Wolves, Wednesday at Poole etc.

This morning, I have further evidence that this is the case... because a lot of speedway fans, caught in a mid-winter break, couldn't find anything better to do than watch 3 hours of BBC SPOTY on Sunday 15th December. It was in the vain hope that a speedway rider would be mentioned by the Beeb's elite... and these same fans tutt and sigh all year when SKY hand over hours upon hours of airtime all because of a bit of shouting, female interviewer asking obvious questions about gearing etc...

Time to get a life, chaps.

But they said "Tai Woffinden" on BBC 1

Time to get a life, chaps.

Please enlighten us with the wonderful things you do with your life, so that we can learn.

We know that you don't like going to watch Speedway, although you sit reading your old programmes whilst grizzling on about the good old days, and still feel the need to post on web forums.

We know you don't watch TV, but still have to rush onto a website first thing next morning to talk about what you claim not to have watched.

Help us to do the exciting things you do....as long as it doesn't involve sitting in a rocking chair in your mother's clothes looking at stuffed birds.

Nice try.

I don't believe it... you watched last nigtht, didn't you... and now feel all miffed that you missed bath night.

My attempt to raise a few tempers certainly worked with you... one of those sad people who probably stayed awake last night hoping for a speedway mention on the beeb. Bet you even have your pen and paper ready for a letter of complaint.

Get A Life, my friend... and no, I won't advise you on where you would get one.

However... as it's the season to be merry... perhaps you could have been interested in thishttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-beds-bucks-herts-25390071.

Milton Keynes once had a speed track, you've been tickled by someone in a red suit once (Jim... who once fixed it for you you, so I believe). And, lastly, you follow a sport that's a bit of a pantomime and the promotion resembling this now defuct Christmas grotto.

You'll be right at home with this story.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Just ff through the first bit of it, saw Tai. Thought the tattoo around the neck was ok but the new one, a large rose on his jaw is b....y awful. It is his choice but seems to have gone over the top.

Also disappointed they did not mention my winning a domino competition in the local pub.

Stayed awake to watch SPOTY?

So that's what the secret is to having a wonderful life like yours...go to bed at 8pm!

Presumably to follow this advice I'd need to get a teddy bear and a copy of Stenners Speedway Yearbook 1947?

P.s. Haven't seen SPOTY yet. Unfortunately X-Factor was on in our house. Can't say I took a lot of notice of that, but I know who won. I won't spoil it for you though.

Didn't watch it but is that right what I've been told - 1st: Scotland, 2nd: Wales, 3rd: Ireland?

Step back pal, you're making an extreme spectacle of yourself now. Let's not argue... we know who wears the trousers (and she's beginning to look like your mother) in your house (X-Factor?) and I wouldn't want me to increase your misery by making you appear the forum's Prize Prat.

Let's move on... or I'll tell the missus you don't like X-Factor.

X-Factor... give me a Stenners anyday. Least you'll feel educatated in what you're proposing to support. Tell me... who won the X-Factor?

What a thoughtful and insightful cretin you are. We all know you don't like speedway as it is now and would rather live in the past so why don't you just feck off and spend your time involved in something you do enjoy?

Sadly a boycott of SPOTY by speedway fans is unlikely to dent the Beeb's viewing figures. Put it into ratio - how many know of the proposed boycott? And how many speedway fans pro rata follow the action on the BSF?

How many overall BSF fllowers do you think will back the boycott?

the only people who count as far as viewing figures are concerned are those 5,100 homes that are fitted with the equipment to send data back to BARB. 5,100 households among a population of 62 million absolute drop in the ocean , so whether you watched it or not won't make any difference ,

Is it correct the BBC held an emergency meeting this morning to discuss the SPOTY boycott by some speedway supporters? It appears they are far from happy that only an estimated 14 million people bothered to watch the programme. JOKE!!
