When Will The New Race Format Be Out & How Can Teams Name Riders When They Don't Know It?

Recommended Posts

When it was announced, back in November, that a new format would be introduced to protect the draft riders, the present CMA was always a big stumbling block.

Now, 3 months down the line, It appears, nothing has been done about it. All we have is a new program of heats and riders, and as someone had previously said, that could have been sorted out in a few hours..........

Why did it take so long.........

Why does it matter why it took so long???

To keep you in suspenders GRW123? ;):) AND to prompt 47 pages of postings on this forum!

No doubt a lot of the 47 pages of postings have been accredited to total garbage, similar to the one you posted above. At least I have tried to be proactive and bring issues to other peoples attention. Probably some feel I'm wrong in what I say, others just want a quite life.

But I have never ridiculed other people posts to get myself noticed. I was brought up with a lot more integrity then that......

What a pity you weren't...... ;)

What issues exactly?? Do you mean your 'imagined' issues that were going to bring the sport to its knees because the format wasn't announced?? What's 'being proactive' about that??:wink:

Also I think number 7's must be required to take all four of their heats, injury on the night excepted. Teams with a strong reserve already have an advantage and they shouldn't be taking extra rides unless its to replace a member of the top five or a reserve injured that night. Difficult to police perhaps but pretty important IMO.

The top 5 averages will definitely be calculated as per usual, so there's likely to be a fair amount if swapping between 3, 4 & 5 and, in the case if teams like Birmingham, potentially between all five!

Will there be a lot of swapping places, or will in fact third heatleaders find themselves getting dropped before they gain a new average?

Any chance to get confirmed gating positions for this new formula?

Has anyone seen the gate positions published anywhere?

Much needed - the existing cannot be transposed. Could be very difficult (if not impossible) to ensure each rider gets one gate off 1,2,3 & 4.

This works in Sweden where they have heat leaders wearing blue/yellow helmets for some heats. In fact, the Swedish leagues have no toss for gate positions at all except heat 15.. The home side are allocated one and three for heat one, then subsequent heats are alternated. However, to balance this, in heat one the away side have their no. one in gate two not four.

For the umpteenth time, it's not the format that has been the concern - but you choose to ignore whilst trying to be smart. Watch this space.

The title of this thread is:

"When Will The New Race Format Be Out & How Can Teams Name Riders When They Don't Know It?"

So if that is not your concern, you're on the wrong thread!!

Emailed BSPA (office@speedwaygb.co and pressoffice@speedwaygb.co) and waiting for reply. Hopefully they will be able to help soon. ;)

I admire an optimist!

Unlike the last couple of years a teams number one can ride at either 1, 3, or 5. This is a definite. So Poole could stick Darcy at 5 as that is the hardest position in the team. However the team positions could become fluid throughout the season depending on which team we are meeting and their lineup positions.

Pretty sure Poole will only know how the other team are lining up when they are away-the home team I think have to declare riding order first.

Something that is very welcome to my mind as it will actually give team managers something to think about.

Opportunities to make a difference in recent times have been limited and perhaps required little thought eg shall I put my No1 on a double against a weaker pair.

It would be better if both teams had to declare at the same time, then one or two changes in expected line up may spice the meeting up.
