When Will The New Race Format Be Out & How Can Teams Name Riders When They Don't Know It?

Recommended Posts

36 pages and we will find out when the bspa feel ready to release it.

Why are some people so frantic to know? we will find out before the season starts. It won't change anything and people won't refuse to go because they are unhappy with the race format.

Chill people and just relax in the knowledge that whatever the heat format, Poole will be winning as usual.

You just had to spoil a good post with that last line.. :D Probably true tho..

There are hoards of people waiting to see the new race format so they can do just that.

You need full vision to ignore the amount of people filling out their own print offs.

So how will it stop people ? you said that this was the reason they have not given us the new format ..of course as I pointed all you would have do was look at the first match of season then copy it ...making your claim look stupid .

Oh Steve :D :D

I agree with the rest. Why all the big fuss?....

I did afterwards, not that you answered it of course.

There should be around £5-£6 difference between EL and PL. Either the PL prices are too high, or the EL is too low.

How can you say that if the Elite League Team has two National League Riders riding for them?

People are paying Elite League Prices to watch National League Riders in approximately a third of the Races. How can they maintain the Prices at that level when what you are getting is a watered down League. Surely - if you dilute the League's QUALITY then the Prices should be reduced to compensate. I really don't understand why people don't get this. It seems very logical to me.

No it doesn't, It suggest that the BSPA aren't allowing anyone to see it so they can go print off their own free programmes.

Of all the nonsense young Stevey comes out with, and let's face it, there's A LOT (approaching 20,000 posts chock full of it I believe), this might just be my favourite.

Akin to a fire fighter going above and beyond and going back into the house to make sure everybody's out, Mr Brum has stretched himself way past the usual limits of human endurance in the quest of reaching the pinnacle of utter idiocy this time.

Stevebrum, we salute you!

I'll spell it out for you in the simplest terms I can muster.

1. An admission charge of £17 was insufficient to cover the costs of running an Elite League meeting for most clubs in 2013. For example Eastbourne lost £9 on every punter that walked through the turnstiles . Peterborough lost even more. Swindon lost so much they couldn't afford to pay their riders.

2. Given the scale of the losses there were two choices: either increase admission or reduce costs. They have opted to keep admission the same and reduce costs. If they reduced admission they would still be losing money on a massive scale.

Now, that's not a difficult concept to grasp is it ?

BTW, I am fully aware of all the various suggestions that have been made to increase attendances, but let's not go there on this particular thread. Its been done to death on other threads. There are all kinds of arguments that can be made to increase revenue but reducing admission is a non starter, and as for charging the same for an EL meeting as a PL that really is a nonsensical concept.

If it's so logical why haven't you been questioning the pricing of the PL for the past 5 or 6 seasons? After all it is a very watered down league isn't it, yet the price difference between EL and PL has been small.

It depends how you define QUALITY. We've all seen pretty dull races between the so called top riders, and one of the BEST races I can ever recall was between James Sarjeant and Dan Greenwood last season in the NL Pairs. Now that was a QUALITY race!

Jeezzzz!!! Will some of you try and understand the concerns. It's not the actual race format, it's the rules surrounding it. It's what happens when the format cannot be followed that need to be clarified and communicated - long before the programme theives move in. I have no desire to watch numerous 3 rider races, top boys v ball boys, false averages and rules that are totally open to manipulation. Until these points are clear why would anyone commit? Mork calling Orson!!!

Are you saying that if you don't like the new format, you wont be attending any meetings ? Just asking..

Thee some sort of myth in speedway that passing means a "quality" race. If I want to see passing I'll go and stand on the bridge over the M4, there lots of it all the time. I want to see good quality rider showing off their skills and racing side by side.

Though weirdly one of my favourite every races was between Bobby Eldridge and Freddie Stephenson at Newport in 1999. Neaither one of them could ride the track, Freddie seemed to want to smash into the fence and Bobby wanted to turn to soon and ride over the white line which result in both making mistake after mistake, it was brilliant. Eventually they crashed :D but generally, give me a rider who knows what he's doing rather than thas NL rider.

Should the prices have been lowered in the EL? i think so the most dangerous thing for me are the promoters taking the diehard supporter for granted.?A quid here and there won't make a difference to me i shall always go, but i know a couple of people who regularly go but who do other things as well (ie football). They might think certain meeting,s are not value for money and won't bother going these kind of supporters are the ones speedway desperately need to keep.

What rules do you need to know to enjoy speedway???? Here's mine:-

There's 7 spaces in every team

There's 2 teams in a league meeting

2 of each teams spaces are required for 15 heats

Those 4 spaces are required to come to tapes within the 2 min warning

Home 2 spaces are red and blue heads

Away 2 spaces are white and yellow heads

Start marshall sticks his arm out to say he's happy

Green light on

Tapes go up

The 4 spaces try to win over the start finish line on the last of 4 oval laps without hitting the bouncy castles on the outside

1st gets 3 pts, 2nd gets 2pts, 3rd gets 1pt and 4th gets 0 and s#!t load of abuse

The home fans jump for joy when the home team wins

If anything else goes on in the meeting just abuse the referee

That's speedway chaps, enjoy

Surely the difference between watching Elite or Premier League really depends on which is the nearest track to you as I would be mad to travel to watch Somerset each week & the added cost of travelling etc when I can go to Swindon because it's closer to me.

It wouldn't matter if they were the same price as I can't see many fans travelling to Swindon when they live nearer Somerset.

Wow, i need to get up really early to catch you out.:lol:

EVERYONE will know the format after the season starts which is my whole point.

Just a clue, as i know you need plenty. We are talking about PRE season (that is before the season starts just for you). No news of a format yet.

Lets face it - it could be something simple as not wanting to inform the paying public (really? the BSPA not inform the public?? i mean really?? ;) ) OR something more complex like an issue with the format.

With it being SOO close to the season start my money is on the former.

Either way ................ it could be either.

But i guess you wouldn't think (yes Orion THINK) that would you. :t:
