When Will The New Race Format Be Out & How Can Teams Name Riders When They Don't Know It?

Recommended Posts

I refer you all to look back to post 125 of this thread it might give you some clues as to riding positions. Not the offical format but maybe somewhere near to it.

Post 125......,if you go through this format and look, the no 3,s meet in all 4 races and others meet more than twice,, and as others have quoted in recent posts that will probably not be the format.

I have posted my format that they might use below, that is of course they keep the 2 reserves together for the whole match??.might not be a bad thing?

I have also put a chart underneath to cross match who meets who and how many times.PLUS a grading for each race for average purposes.

heat h a h/s/r grade
1 15 15 H A
2 34 34 HS B
3 67 67 R D
4 12 45 HS B
5 45 12 HS B
6 23 67 HS R C
7 67 23 R HS C
8 45 67 HS R C
9 12 34 HS B
10 34 12 HS B
11 67 67 R D
12 35 35 H A
13 12 12 HS B
14 67 45 R HS C
15 n n
AWAY
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
1 XX X X XX XX
H
2 X X X XX X X X
O
3 X X XX X X X X
M
4 XX XX X X X X
E
5 XX X X XX X X
6 X X X X XX XX
7 X X X X XX XX
Reserves do not meet the number 1 at all,but meet the other two heat leaders once only each.
I know that they are saying reserves will not meet heat leaders at all but i think they will re think a change..

Riding positions have already been confirmed, it is in this weeks Speedway Star.

Heat leaders (top 3 in the averages) ride at 1,3 & 5. Second strings therefore will ride at 2 & 4.

I don't think you can have reserves racing against heatleaders and certainly not a reserve pair against an opposition 1-5 pair. That would be a cast iron 5-1 in every heat.

That was my understanding, the reserves only race against each other and the opposition no 2 and 4.

Arn't you the guy who vociferously campaigns for the double point rule to be changed at the end of every season !

Yes - I am!!!

I half expected someone to come back at me about my abhorrence of the 'Double Points' Rule. To answer your presumed assumption of my perceived inconsistency.

The 'Double Points' Rule I regard as a fiddle - I have said this many times and my views are well known. Fiddling is wrong in anyone's book. I argue AGAINST 'Double Points' because I believe it is wrong - I would argue the same about the 'Tactical Ride' too. To me the Rule is wrong therefore SHOULD be got rid of - NOT changed.

I am arguing for a BAD Rule to be dropped from the Rule Book altogether - that is the thrust of my argument.

Totally agree. Could you imagine football if we score a goal in next 10 min. it counts as 2 goal's. Or cricket if I hit a six off the next ball it counts as 12 runs.

Could you imagine if the scores were level in a match letting the away teams points count double ? or if a rider hit the tapes letting someone from the other side get a chance to have a go at scoreing free points .

This thread is like speedways version of Italian Job 1969 ending.

Michael Caine (Charlie) “Get back get back now. Hold still don't move don't move at all. Don't anyone get out the door neither other wise we all go. Edge back as far as you can go to counter balance me now. Hang on a minute lads I’ve got a great idea.”

or how about

Fred Emney (Birkenshaw) “Blimey its like a bloody grand prix” and “Bloody Foreigners”:D:t::party:

But it would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons if it didn't

What I wan't to know is this - if second strings race generally themselves and the reserves and don't meet heat leaders in some races- what happens if someone increases his average from say 5.00 to 7.50? Can they then be replaces by a rider of heat leader standard eg Larsen or Sundstrom?
