What is the chance of extra teams in the NL.We know there will be Kent,Dudley,Mildehall,Buxton,Stoke,Are we too see Coventry and Kings Lynn again?I hope IOW situation is sorted. So is there a chance of anyone else?Norwich - Bristol ?????We could do with more teams, the more the merrier.I have read in this weeks SS that there is encouragement of Elite Teams also having a NL team like Coventry/KL.

Coventry confirmed last month that they will definitely be running NL in 2014. I'm just hoping the Islanders state likewise!

I don't think it's clear cut that Dudley will be back either as they could go PL with the 14H/14A league fixtures allowing themselves, Peterborough and one other to join.

I'm sure it would be beneficial for EL teams to run a NL team to give their reserves home track time, and for the likes of KL who have done this for several years already that's why I think they deserve to have Lambert & Kerr at reserve despite it being easily the strongest pair in the league... Sticking with NL, BV ran the Colts a couple of years ago, Poole ran Bournemouth, Birmingham ran the Bulls in challenge meetings and I'm sure Leicester could sustain NL racing, so even though I don't think we'll see mre than 8 teams at the tapes I think it would be worthwhile for some EL teams (other than Coventry & KL) to invest!

Anyone heard anything about a return for Scunthorpe Saints?

Anyone heard anything about a return for Scunthorpe Saints?

The NLSpeedway Twitter account asked this very question.

"Any chance we'll see the Saints return next year @SpeedwayScunny?" "@SpeedwayScunny: never say never;-) ;-)"

Hopefully that's a positive indication that they may be back in 2014.

That's because I run the account  Look at my signature ;) But seriously, I hope they do return! In terms of youth development I truly believe that Scunthorpe are one of the best this century.

I hope there are new teams, there has very little if anything from the Stoke promotion since before the season finished, noises from the IOW don't sound great. Kings Lynn? Don't know. Buxton I assume depends on the airfence.

If your feeling positive all the above teams come to the tapes plus a couple of EL/PL teams run NL teams.

If your feeling negative the NL could be down to Kent, Mildenhall Coventry and Dudley.

No chance of Norwich and it's gone quiet down in Bristol.

The last post on the Bristol facebook page is optimistic but Andy Hewlett admits its still going to be tough going.

There's a posting on the Leicester thread that there are 'strong rumours' that they will have a team in.

Re: Bristol - we have been hearing that "tough going" line for several years.

And Leicester with a second team in the NL - our old friend "strong rumours" certainly gets around!

Would they be the Leicester CUBS ? :t:

Well hopefully not 'Leicester' anything as I prefer 'stand-alone' club names.

For example:

Norfolk Knights (KL)

Beaumont Braves (Leicester)

South-west Stars (combined Somerset/Plymouth side)

Bournemouth Buccaneers (which did happen of course and is the 'model' to follow) (Poole)

Byker Racers (Newcastle) etc.

Rob's quoted in the local rag tonight as saying that Scunthorpe will look seriously at running a NL team, depending on outcome of AGM

References to those who you want to cover the sport as 'the local rag' could turn the local newspaper sports editor's off of speedway.

I'm sure that The Scunthorpe Telegraph has been called a lot worse !

I forgot to mention that the august journal also quoted Rob as saying that if they run then the team will be known as the "Stags" rather than the "Saints". Strangely, after all these years there is an issue over the copyright of the stick figure logo !

How was the Zielona Gora "mouse" logo dispute resolved ?
