Speedball
Just seen this on the SpeedwayGB site. Good news and long overdue in my opinion. ------------------ THE 2014 British Youth Championship will incorporate a new 150cc support class – with the opportunity for youngsters to get involved at reduced cost.Hagon Shocks and Martin Dugard will make available a Standard Box Engine Daytona Anima 150FDX, which will be sold for a price of £700 (RRP £889), including VAT and delivery. The price difference is created by the sponsorship of Hagon Shocks to encourage British Speedway.Dugard, along with youngster Tom Brennan, has already carried out testing, and Tom has completed 320-330 laps – the equivalent of 80 heats or 16 meetings – with only one oil change, and a change of spark plug at a cost of £8.GB Youth co-boss Neil Vatcher said: “On the back of Britain having a World Champion, this is exciting news for young boys or girls who would like to compete in the 2014 British Youth Championship on an inexpensive brand-new speedway machine.”The Young Lions Management can be contacted at -email- for more information regarding purchasing a new engine, and any interest in competing in the series next year.
SteveEvans
Huge news! This class has run all year in the USA and has enabled many to take up the sport. Martin Hagon needs huge credit for this pioneering programme. Edited November 19, 2013 by SteveEvans

SteveEvans
The response to the biggest news to hit British speedway and open up the sport to floods of new riders is shocking! Meantime, in other forum news, Poole are better than Coventry...or vice versa....

Tsunami
Interesting to hear that Hagon Shocks are not sponsoring either Holder or Ward next year, but seem heavily involved in this project. Could it be that more than the BSPA are looking to help British Speedway and young riders from the bottom up, instead of just the top.

If that is the case, it's about time.
Lord Skid
Both Hagon and Dugard have been at Rye every sunday for the last month testing the new bikes, they are very impressive. You can tell from speaking to them both that it's a project they are 100% behind, let's just hope they are given as much help and support as possible, from the powers that be.

Bostonian
Only just seen this news.. Fantastic idea, and even better that hagon shocks (a massive sponsor of speedway) is backing it. Really hope this will hit off and bring youngsters through!
