Elite League Draft Riders

Recommended Posts

Is there a list of these 6 or 7 riders? I imagine that they must have been seeded lower than the original 23 draft riders OR had 'done a Robert Lambert' and stated that they were after a regular team spot instead.

I am a supporter of the EL draft, and hope that teams/riders do not exploit any new loopholes there may be in this new initiative, an initiative which aims to PROMOTE THE FUTURE OF BRITISH SPEEDWAY.

This topic got mentioned on 'Early Predictions' Post No's 376+. Hope it helps your thinking, but I can see so many loopholes to be exploited by some..........

Phil Morris was compiling the list, at the time, some riders were unable to commit because of work or studies, but they will go back on the list if their personal circumstances later allow. I would have thought that the 30 rider list is now complete, it didn't take very long to compile the original one.

Hopefully any additions wiil be ranked and I would say that where a change is made it should be for a lowered ranked rider and not just any on the list.

Its not as if we're spoiled for choice or anything is it!??

I would like to see this initiative really work, but I agree with the poster several days ago that suggested a better starting point would have been just ONE young Brit at reserve - with possibly a PL link-up?!. Then there would be plenty of options with a real chance for those that have the skills and wherewithal to really go for it .

As it is - and with the greatest respect to them all - there are clearly some that are just 'making up the numbers'!!

I think if you just had one, they would be too far out of their depth. With four in a match there is chance for them to race each other as well as main body riders and not get overwhelmed.

kerr

newman

lambert

garrity

jacobs

morris

nielsen

ellis

blackbird

worrall

all fixed at number 7 for the start of the season wouldve been an ideal starting point for just one reserve. could have had the other 13 on the list as back ups in case of injuries. would have only faced number 5 once and the rest of the time second strings. the number 5 position could be fixed for the lowest averaged heatleader as well, which wouldve been a much better alternative than having two british riders at reserve.

Probably been asked before, but dont want to trawl through over fifty pages.Who gets gets preference in Elite/Premier for a rider that neither teams owns, and where both teams ride on the same night.

Premier League get preference if rider is not owned by either team

Not if the EL club signed/contracted the rider first!!

Getting conflicting stories about this one all the time. Guess it's wait and see! Luckily for Coventry it's quite easy, Fisher, Garrity and Howarth are all owned by 1 of the 2 clubs they're riding for.

Good news for Wolves then regarding Joe Jacobs.Signed as draft rider for Wolverhampton, before he put pen to paper to ride for P,boro in the Prem.

Even though he rode for Coventry Storm, think he actually belongs to Ipswich.

As I understand it (insofar as anyone understands anything this season!), mdmc82 is correct and thus Jacobs would be the only Wolves rider where the management will have to keep an eye on the fixtures elsewhere, the others affected being club assets. But I stand to be corrected.

Yes. I agree. In terms of the doubling up riders in the EL 1-5, the Premier League team takes priority unless the rider is an asset of his El club.

e.g. At Belle Vue, PL side Edinburgh have first call on Craig Cook, but Belle Vue have first call on Richie Worrall because he's a BV asset. (If he was anything other than a BV asset, Ipswich would have first call).

But as for the EL reserves, who may also be riding NL or both PL and NL, then god knows what the priority is, except that I would imagine EL to have priority over NL.

I have asked the same question on other threads with the asset position seemingly having priority. Eg Ellis/Lakeside not Ipswich and Morris/Wolves not Worky. If neither then PL/EL/NL

Under this scheme, is there any protection given to the riders against being "dropped" by their club? Especially if a rider not currently within the scheme substantially improves his form/average.

I'm only using this as an example because the circumstances were very different - but last season at Leicester the reserves positions became something of a revolving door situation as the club strived (unsuccessfully) to improve the number of points being scored from those positions.

They can take another rider from the list, it was supposed to be expanded to thirty in total for that purpose.

Quite true Foamfence!! I expect the clubs know who the additional 7 or so riders are going to be, but as its not been made known to the fans there will probably be 'major implications' or 'a massive disaster' for the future of the sport, just like the new race format!!!!!!! :D:D:rofl::rofl:
