Big Al
So what happens if, halfway through the season, someone like Kerr is basically unbeatable (and has established an average of over 8 for Newcastle in the Premier League). And earlier in the season, Kings Lynns no.7 gets injured, so then they can bring in anybody as a replacement and the replacement happens to be Robert Lambert, who also tends to be unbeatable and stays in the team as the guy he's replaced still isn't fit to return. Kings Lynn are running away with the league with nobody (not even Poole) near them. What could Mr Ford and/or the BSPA then do, to make the league less of a walkover? jimmy jimmy
Good luck to them if a young British rider helps them win the league rather than a Polish rider on a false average (eg Pawlicki) Edited November 29, 2013 by jimmy jimmy
Astill lodge lion
Here's my attempt at a draft prediction:- Coventry - Garrity, Clegg BV - Blackbird, Reade Eastbourne - Nielsen, Halsey Leicester - Jacobs, Worrall Lakeside - Ellis, Morley KL - Kerr, Rose Wolves - Morris, Smart Swindon - Perry, Simon Lambert Birmingham - Starke, Bates Poole - Newman, Sarjeant
T.N.T.
My GUESS at the picks KINGS LYNN; Lewis Kerr = Lewis Rose BELLE VUE; Jason Garrity = Max Clegg POOLE; Kyle Newman = Ben Hopwood COVENTRY; Lewis Blackbird = James Sarjeant LEICESTER; Stefan Nielsen = Simon Lambert LAKESIDE; Adam Ellis = Ben Morley WOLVES; Ashley Morris = Tom Perry SWINDON; Paul Starke = Steve Worrall EASTBOURNE; Joe Jacobs = Daniel Halsey BIRMINGHAM; Ben Reade = Josh Bates By not picking the next rider in the list but one a few places lower in the list it will mean a better pick for the last place. Thankfully Ashley Morris is 7th in the list and when it comes to the second pick I think Wolves will go for local lad Tom Perry who used to ride for Dudley. Tom Perry is in the top ten for a pick so if Wolves went for Morris they cant pick Perry. Unless BV sign Garrity as an asset then Coventry will surely pick him. Even if he does sign as an asset im not sure he would now be a 'protected' pick now the system for this year has been released.
mdmc82
If Belle Vue now buy Garrity he should not be protected as it would be after the list was produced.

You don't have to pick a Top 10 rider. Anybody not claimed (protected riders) or undrafted is available at any pick. Technically Number 1 Kerr can be picked last or not picked at all. jammag
I wonder if any negotiations are allowed between teams as such with the american drafts. Where a club lower on the pick list may say you can have this ride for your 1-5 line up however we want to switch our picks in the first round as part of the deal? That would make it even more interesting, but I think it's unlikely to happen this season as everything is too new. I also thought if a really good rider in the NL was not an asset of an EL club and was going to be eligible for the 2015 draft, could we see a struggling team "tank" the rest of the season to get the first pick in 2015. Ie a promotor off load some of its better riders & replace with lower average riders to ensure finishing bottom. Again, can't see it happening, it's just something that happens in American sports with a draft.
Pirate Nick
How can Newman even get on the list he as not been in the National league for two years or more,as Charles Wright refused to be on and same for Laim Carr if not why are they not named.Steve Worrell where is he.Confused again by B S P A As I posted on another thread because he is a young Brit and came up through the Conference, National and Premier leagues, wasn't afraid to give the Elite league a go in 2011 and has an assessed 3.00pt Elite average
INCOGNITO
It will be interesting when a rider misses a meeting and a lower ranked rider is used as a guest even though the guest is averaging considerably more. What happens when a rider not on the list is approached to cover for a long term injury or replacement. Can teams sign a new rider not on the list if he is averaging less than 3.00 in the EL. Joe Haines for example could come out of retirement and at a young age and national titles to his name could he be bought in at any stage or even Charles Wright or Steve Boxall ? The list is to be increased to 30 names. so that should provide enough long or short term replacements. Some riders turned down the offer because of work and other commitments. T.N.T.
Will these reserves both have to have four rides each ? You can see a team with a dominant reserve like Newman or Ellis getting 5 rides a meeting and the other reserve only riding in the two reserve rides and one other heat. I take it ALL the riders on the list have agreed to ride where they are allocated regardless of how far away their home track will be. Will be a bit hard on an ambitious young rider to have a 400 mile round trip for £120 after breaking an exhaust, snapping a chain and being replaced in one race. On this line. If the tac sub rule comes back in, can a reserve be taken out of a race when alongside a second string and replaced by the #1 rider ?
