A ORLOV
I can just imagine the crowd being handed them number paddles as they enter the stadium to vote with. A bit like "Strictly come Riding". After heat 7 you can vote for which rider gets sent home prior to heat 8.

Make them phone their vote to a premium rate number at 50p a go.

Tom Turner
So what would you do? if you had a free range of the rule book. I'd leave it alone!! The rule book is fine, the way the sport is presented to market is completely wrong. If I was given free range I would outsource the marketing aspect of speedway to a marketing agency or create a marketing team at the BSPA. And no, that doesn't mean high costs at all. Certainly a lot less than they stand to lose with these silly changes. Why view their opinion then on a website then that caters for speedway supporters? See, it's bit of a giveaway in the supporters bit. I mean speedway's hardly thriving and what we really need is spoilt men behaving like 3 year olds. But who cares if people feel the "urge' to watch polish speedway and the British league suffer more. Because this is a British speedway forum. See, it's a bit of a giveway in the forum bit. noun: forum; plural noun: forums; plural noun: fora 1. a meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged Why on Earth should I, or any other supporter, support a club financially for an inferior product when my money is then wasted on awful business strategy that has been proven not to work? There is no point living with your head in the clouds, that is the very reason the sport is in this horrible mess. Phil
Now there's an idea that needs following up. This could be an a good idea. Smartphone app and vote (10p charge) for rider of the night. All voters go entered into some other competition.
SteveLyric2
Those clubs with a podcast (official or unofficial) could co-ordinate that!! One issue though is that the average age of a speedway supporter puts many of them in the group that don't understand what a podcast, app, smartphone etc etc is!!!! ps. phone votes to a premium number at 50p a time??????? Tony Millard would be turning in his grave!!! God rest him!!

Fromafar
This system to me seems flawed regarding British riders ,we will have some young talent riding in 3 league but some Pl reserves/2nd strings will find themselves on the dole due to averages. TMW
Some of the suggestions although sound silly may not be far off the mark of the modern day spectacle which youngsters identify with but I would certainly start the parade early and involve the kids in the parade. One thing that speedway has over football is accessibility to the competitors

How do you know this? Fact or speculation? £80,000 can go a very long way when it comes to online marketing but it does have to be in the right hands. I know you are reluctant to accept marketing but it is absolutely essential. Speedway is a fantastic and thrilling sport! There is nothing wrong with the product, there is simply not enough people who know about it.

So you're saying every fan across the country who doesn't Support Man Utd should go watch Bayern Munich abroad? You acting like you're 4 and urging others to follow suit and go abroad will really help speedway. Anyway bored of this backwards forwards tennis now. Jonny the spud
We do that at Newcastle Jonny. Sorry, haven't been there yet, it's so far north from where i live i got beaten back by polar bears when 30kms away. Going to the big international grasstracks over here with lights/music etc, it frustrates me when i go to a uk speedway and hear music that was out of date when i used to live in England. (1989 !!!!) I know you are reluctant to accept marketing but it is absolutely essential. Speedway is a fantastic and thrilling sport! There is nothing wrong with the product, there is simply not enough people who know about it. You need a product that is marketable. The EL Speedway I have viewed over recent years is neither fantastic or thrilling. Stupid complicated rules, poor governance and track preperation will never attract and retain newbies. How can you possibly entertain with such a gulf in ability / experience. Get the product right then you have something to market. I keep going as a harderned supporter knowing what it can be like. We fell into a trap, with good intent, of setting the regulations in order to save the struggling clubs. A huge contributing factor to the decline of British Speedway. In my opinion.
