A ORLOV
I see Lewis Blackbird has tweeted the NL reserves are to be paid £40 a point with a guarantee of 3 points!!!! Woohoo £120 quid a meeting! Blackbird says he's not doing it and hopes all the NL boys will stick together. I see the Elite league has the progression of the young Brits at heart Have no idea of the pay rates in the NL, but £120 minimum a meeting with £40 per point looks to be low. How much does a tyre cost?, plus what is the cost of fuel, oil etc, that is before you look at the cost of a blown engine. skthecat
What do they currently get in the NL per point, and as reserves in the PL per point?
Jonny the spud
Great ... If that's the case the pay is less than in the premier league !
MrMungo
What do they currently get in the NL per point, and as reserves in the PL per point? NL is usually £10 per point, but some clubs (Dudley especially) offer a fair bit more. PL reserves is usually around £40-45 per point. That may go up a bit if the riders scores more than X amount of points. Usually there's some sort of guarantee to cover travel expenses and things like that. £40 per point in the EL is pretty damn poor, but it's not unexpected. They brought this rule in to cut expenses, not to give British youngsters a shot at the EL, despite what they may say!
pandorum
I wouldn't mind the chance to earn £400+ additional income for 10 minutes work, with a guarantee of £120 even if I don't do a stroke. To be fair they have to do a lot of work to be able to do those 10 minutes and have a lot of expense. Not many jobs cost you a fortune to do like speedway. I used to have to buy a donkey jacket and a pair of boots and usually got my money back fromt he firm I worked for. These lads would have to pay a lot up front to be competetive in the EL. I bet the promoters paid a lot more to those nuggets they used to fly back and forward so why not invest in the NL guys a bit. It seems as if the promoters just want 2 kids to ride around for 4 laps between each other over 2 races and come last in a couple of others with stiffer opposition so they can brag about how much effort they are putting into the next generation. They wasted a fortune on foreign garbage but won't seriously invest in our own kids. Pretty much says it all. This will fail even before the first hurdle. Damn shame as it is the only way to really bring our kids on. Edited November 23, 2013 by pandorum

You are kidding right???? The BSPA are expecting these boys to ride 4-5 times a week in 3 different leagues for what could be as little as £600 in wages. That isn't development, that's slavery with the current costs of participating in this sport. The BSPA have no thought for the future of our own rider's yet again just the same old self interest bullpoop.
TMW
LEWIS BLACKBIRD @lewiblack 5m @SpeedwayGB £40 a point elite league. 3point guarantee?? Cant do it and I'm gutted. Hope all the NL boys stick together on this????! Trouble ahead ?. Wasn't the whole point of the exercise for the lads to gain experience rather than a money?. I'm sure some will have that enhanced by 'sponsorship'.

It all seems so very unfair on the youngsters - the future of our Sport.

I can't work out if you're very stupid or very very stupid. Did Kunta Kinte have to buy a van, two bikes, tools , kevlars, helmets etched.. Pay a mechanic, diesel and engine servicing ? It's a job for lots of riders. If you're not racing, you're working on bikes. Would you do all that work with the fair chance that some weeks you may end up injured / out of pocket.?

hans fan
I know. My son is one of the young Brits. I know. My son is one of the young Brits. The thing what makes me laugh is Poland invests 10s of thousands in there polish under 21s on equipment and tracktime, you'd be lucky if your boy gets 10 pence and a couple of laps on press and practice day ,bspa and others can dress it all the like but until they pay them at least a decent rate on par with Johnny foreigner ( so they can compete machinery wise )your peaing head wind same old $hit where Brits are concerned
Jonny the spud
Also his pl average is slightly too high to allow him to ride in the NL even though he's only been riding one year. Robbing him of more track time and income

Jonny the spud
Not possible i'm afraid he's ready another clubs asset. I hope the £40 a point is all that's on offer as it would seriously hamper the ability to keep equipment at the level needed to remain competetive. Being able to do all three divisions would also help development/ ability etc.

Robbing him of more track time and income There will be a rule change at the NL AGM surely, there has to be. Many lads may not want to ride in NL instead, concentrating on PL and EL so those that don't appear on the 'list' for whatever reason can ride in the NL as clubs like Dudley and Mildenhall will still want to keep their teams competitive :-)
