MrMungo
Someone has just put on Twitter, that the NL reserves will be graded A & B and those will be allocated to the teams by the Management Committee. They will be allocated? It gets better! I see nothing wrong with that at all!
NJC71
I just wonder if its a tactic to try and "force" some youg British talent through over a "single mad" season........? Perhaps it might work? Instead of NL riders getting bogged down in premier league teams, season after season, the ones with a bit more ambition, might be able to take the bigger step up. If you go back to the 60's / 70's you didn't have British League reserves getting mega silly points at reserve, you probably now won't see a heat leader out of form deliberatley getting excluded, as there wont be the big reserve there to replace them.... Yes but it seems they won't be riding against EL riders, just against each other. So it's just a mini NL match. That will not improve them although neither would riding against EL riders when the vast majority will not be ready for it. They need more opportunities in the PL not the EL. NickRushbrook
There's no 'step up' if they are only racing each other. Pointless idea.

Liontamer
As a staunch Leicester supporter I think someone's taking the Fosters. There is no way on God's earth I'm going to buy a season ticket to watch national league speedway. We've joined the so called elite league to have more local teams to ride against & we've replaced one of them. The sport I love is a bloody joke.
SFTGNigel
Perhaps a key comment from Jon Cook on the Hammers site : "Clubs will be allocated their riders at a draft meeting at the sports Rugby HQ early next month and there will be a change of race format to produce two reserve races. The Hammers expect the first rider they are allocated to be Adam Ellis who signed a full contract for the club at the end of the 2012 season." dontforgetthefueltapsbruv
That'll be fun. Lambert gets allocated to Poole.... Lambert had indicated he wouldnt ride NL so wouldnt be elligible for a reserve berth in the EL if he stuck to this decision!!
NJC71
To be honest my immediate reaction is I've had enough and won't be back next year. The 6 team play-offs in the PL doesn't work yet is retained again along with the Tactical rules which I detest. I don't need to be spend £20 every Sunday, I can easily do something else.

tony159
Did they forget to mention that the National League riders are required to only do 2 laps to all the teams no 1's 4laps and the rest do 3 laps ?
SFTGNigel
Cook's full comments : "We are very pleased, its like a return to the days of old with a really British League and it was very cool that Britains very own World Champion Tai Woffinden was the first person to give the thumbs up to Elite promoters decision to follow our Swedish & Polish League counterparts by including two British youngsters at 6 & 7 in all 2014 line ups. Woffinden was guest of honour at the closure of Saturdays session of discussions and was fittingly the first person outside of the sports promoters to hear the news that the top 20 young Brits selected by the GB senior & U21 team officials will be graded and allocated in a fast track programme, a move warmly welcomed by our very own World Champion. Clubs will be allocated their riders at a draft meeting at the sports Rugby HQ early next month and there will be a change of race format to produce two reserve races. The Hammers expect the first rider they are allocated to be Adam Ellis who signed a full contract for the club at the end of the 2012 season. The Sports top stars will remain in the Countries top league, led by Woffinden, with a points limit of 32 set for the top five riders. There will be plenty of action for the youngsters to soak up as they remain eligible for all three leagues and, importantly, for fans wanting to enjoy a more regular fix of racing, clubs will now meet home and away twice increasing the league programme from 28 to 36 meetings culminating in the ever successful Play Offs. The top league will remain at ten in number, but sees a change of membership with Leicester replacing Peterborough who have been withdrawn from the league and placed up for sale by its owners. Further good news is on the horizon, as the sports broadcast partners GoSpeed confirmed to the sports leaders that they expect to confirm a new TV contract shortly. Continued Cook I know our fans will be absolutely delighted at our extended fixture list and season ticket prices will be announced Wednesday morning and I am looking forward to going into more details of the season ahead at our fans forum on Friday the 22nd of November at the Park Inn. In the meantime Stuart and myself are working with Neil to inform this years team of our intentions, as well as target riders for what we hope will be a memorable year to come. CardinalSin
Maybe the idea is that although they won't be riding against the top boys, they will be in and around them which might help them improve. Learning from them from watching them on track as well as in the pits with set ups etc and taking advice. The youngsters will learn a hell of a lot being in the team and rubbing shoulders with the likes of Holder and Woffinden. If not how does he benefit effectively only riding at NL level? From his development point of view surely he would be best on the PL. Mr Blobby
So clubs don't get to pick what NL riders they get then? so they get assigned them instead is that right?

G the Bee
Someone has just put on Twitter, that the NL reserves will be graded A & B and those will be allocated to the teams by the Management Committee. Will be fun seeing how that works. Who is to say a Bees team of, say, Sundstrom, Harris, Hansen, Larsen and Szczepaniak (which comes in at 31.99) is better than a Poole team of Holder, Ward, Tungate, Grajczonek and A.N. Other up to 4.61)? At least it looks like if Poole go with that top 4 they will not be able to fit Bech in as his PL converted average is 5.05. Cheekee Raylee Monkee
So basically the fans will be paying the same money for roughly a 70% EL meeting and a 30% NL meeting Only those dumb enough to turn up and pay the admission. Buyer beware!! Even if the format is changed to allow the NL riders to race mainly against themselves, what happens if a team use R/R or lose a top 5 rider to injury during a match and need reserves to cover... Costs will go up as the likes of Poole throw a fortune at the best NL riders. Will the two NL riders be a permanent fixture in the team, or will it be just pick any 2 random NL riders per match? How can they be a permanent fixture in the EL when there would clearly be fixture clashes with their NL matches (and PL matches) left, right and centre. If the heat format isn't changed, the NL riders will be destroyed. If the format is changed, matches will be swung in favour of those who bid top dollar to recruit the best NL riders regardless of what the top 5 do. Presumably they can't be given EL averages from their EL races as it would end up with a mathematical mess more complex than Fermat's Last Theorum. The potential for average fiddling and all kinds of dodgy dealing is immense. STOP PRESS - The Elite League was today confirmed as being on a life support system. Mr Fraud described its condition as "satisfactory." Someone has just put on Twitter, that the NL reserves will be graded A & B and those will be allocated to the teams by the Management Committee. Hmm. A few years ago didn't Mildenhall & Rye House get shafted because other promoters didn't like the fact that Jon Armstroing & Steve Boxall were doing well. Still, it couldn't happen again could it?
