SCB
Because we do not have enough riders to put together a competitive world class team at present. A best pairs trophy maybe and thats about it.You're right, The Americans and Latvians have so many rider it;'s hard to choose who to leave out. I'm sure i read that Latvia has 8 licensed speedway riders. 8 riders yet 4 of them beat the best 4 British riders. As for the USA they have how many professional riders? Fisher, Wells and Hancock yet they beat GB best 4 riders. Yes the riders were poor but frankly, Middlo has never done anything to suggest he is any way decent as a manager of Team GB. And and FFS, drop the stupid Team bit. They're just Great Britain. Stop trying to be cool or modern or funky. We're Great Britain. Not GB or Team GB but Great Britain. John Leslie
Agree on the "Team GB" thing. It doesn't make sense and is just cringeworthy. f they're trying to be cool, modern and funky why not go the whole hog and call us "Da Team GB innit"
Brummie Kev
I really hope Phil gets the job, he did an awesome at Brum last year I personally believe it was his motivational skills and man management that played a big part in what we did. There was alot of off track issues at Brum and it would have been easy for heads to drop and performance s too but it didnt. Alongside him I would love to see Mark Loram as his assistant, would offer alot to the GB setup
manchesterpaul
So as expected Middlo has quit as team manager, two people in frame to replace him, current deputy Morris or Gary Havelock. There would be the extra cost of hiring an interpreter if they decide to select Gary 'Mr Mumble' Havelock lol.

jimmy jimmy
Surely Alun Rossiter is the best option? Neil Middleditch lost it for me when he couldn't persuade Nicholls to ride and chose Kennett ahead of King. Then dropped Cook for Barker. Series of bad decisions. I am sure they were made with the best intentions, but were shown to be plain wrong.

He should have fallen on his sword immediately after the WTC.
spiegal
Middlo is simply the most ideal man for the job. England Team Manager is seriously the very worst Speedway position ever and he has done it with honesty, enthusiasm and ability. Some of these comments on here obviously come from people who have never ever held any job in the sport, who like to express their opinions, which as long as they are polite and honest they have every right to do so. So Middlo Couldn't persuade Nicholls to race..what a joke..if you only knew the real story !!!...Middlo is putting his business, family and heath first, how sensible and right. And by the way he doesn't read this forum, so criticise all you like, if it makes you feel better.
Hodgy
Years off winning WTC but most certainly could and should have done better this year.
spiegal
We are all entitled to criticise. people are hung drawn and quartered in the media in other sports, but for some reason speedway officials think they are above anything that the fans say. Middleditch liked taking credit for Poole's success, but was also happy to distance himself from the sacking of young Brit Howarth. Some of his comments on Twitter were cringeworthy. Team Manager is a thankless task, but it requires a degree of humility that Middledicth has only now finally shown by packing it in. Indeed a thoughtful and erudite posting, point well made. Arson fire
As the old saying goes , you can't make a silk purse from a sows ear ,riders we have at the minute are limited on the big stage, barring the world champ obviously.... But we should still be doing better than we did....which the post I quoted said we wouldn't.

BluPanther
I guarantee things wont get any worse with the new manager whoever he is. Middlo's selections in 2013 were shocking at best..
skthecat
How do you start a POLL thread, yes poll, not Poole, its not a typo...!!! So we can vote on who we think will be the next GB team manager......
SteveLyric2
Just a thought - even though expected, anyone seen anything official announced anywhere?? Or has someone leaked an advance copy of the BSPA AGM agenda? Edited November 13, 2013 by Skidder1
