Oz Championships 2013-14

Recommended Posts

Bruv, who lives in Adelaide, will be there next Saturday at Gillman. Was there last year to see Batch win, and signed his Swindon programme board along with Leigh Adams. Always a few Robins fans there from UK and Oz. Sends me a programme. Why no Wardo, Schleiny, Watto though, and Kid Morra?

It is a strange world. Britain can virtually ban Poles from the Premier League. And a very good thing that is, too. But our own Government can ban Aussies from riding here, while swinging wide the door for Yanks, Argies and all sorts of other "foreign" countries.

I suspect that if someone wanted to challenge the restrictions on Poles at PL level it wouldn't stand up to much scrutiny.

The door is open exactly the same amount for Australians as it is for the "Yanks, Argies and all sorts of other 'foreign' countries" when it comes to receiving work permits, and that seems pretty fair to me. I don't see why Australians should receive any preferential treatment.

Something I did not mention in my report on the round at Kurri, was the performance of Chris Holder. His gating on the night was very ordinary, which meant he had the pressure of constantly coming from behind. I did notice however, that his own special brand of menacing intensity was returning. This is a characteristic of only the very best riders. He looked like the the fabulous World Champion that he is.

Once upon a time, in another world, there was a thing called the "British Commonwealth" where whose members were given preferential, and reciprocal, treatment. Then along came another thing called the "European Economic Community"....

I'm sorry to read that you consider Australians as foreigners.

Anyway it's time for us foreigners to turn our heads to a country so far away and support our riders in round 2 at Underra on Wednesday. Hope it's a fantastic night!

Report from Undera. I have reached Adelaide and have managed to hook up to the hotel's internet. A great crowd was on hand to witness some great racing. You can see the results above, but that don't really tell he story. In his first heat, Chris Holder came unstuck on turn 2 and hit the deck. Rohan Tungate dropped his bike and avoided a real problem. Chris caught his leg under the fence, and there was some injury concerns which proved unfounded. The big crowd erupted in heat 9, when Chris Holder and Dakota North exchanged the lead on a number of occasions. North won on the line by about an inch. It was a tremendous speedway race. Chris Holder raced like a demon all night and was rewarded with a B final win. The final included Justin Sedgeman who rode well all night. Jason Doyle was almost unstoppable and showed his usual impeccable style. As always, Troy Batchelor was fast and rode well to come from behind on a few occasions.

The A final was marred by a nasty crash in turn 2, when Troy Batchelor hit Chris Holder, while contesting the lead and both riders came down. Batchelor was excluded and limped away from the scene. Chris Holder took a few minutes to get to his feet and a hushed crowd were thrilled when it was announced that Chris would take his place in the re-run. Jason Doyle was running inside and missed the crash. Sedgeman dropped his bike and avoided hitting the fallen riders. Chris Holder recontested the final and won thanks to his resilience and mental toughness. We now go to Gillman on Saturday for the final. This has been a great series.

How about crediting Crazy Sue's Updates site? That's where this has been stolen from by Sportowefakty. Credit to Sue, the big fat bastard and Lunchy for all the hard work they do wouldn't go astray.

Actually if you had bothered to look-Sportowefakty credited the source as from speedway updates-exactly the same procedure as I did !!!!

Can't see any mention of Crazy Sue's site on your post mate; you just credit the thieves who stole her scores. How about supporting the Brits, or are you just another thief?

That's crap and you know it-there are people allround the "speedway world " giving updates ie Germans,Hungarians,Russians,Latvians,Poles etc, etc. As long as acknowledgement is given to source-which they did-in my view that is perfectly acceptable practice.

Please guys chill, in true Aussie style, let's take the more laid back stance..that said, incorrect crediting does mither me a little.

Racers and royals - I think what the issue may be is that from your links, it appears on face value that the updates came from that site only and not via us.
