Blondie20
As for the comment regarding Matt riding for both national and premier scunthorpe teams this was not possible for him as he had completed a deal with scunthorpe well before Christmas and was totally unaware of them having a national team as it was kept a secret and only announced this week but he had already done a deal. Â And as for the money well do you really think national league teams pay big money? No they don't there Is very little difference at all. The reason for Matts move was because he wanted to be on a new track he wanted a new challenge and ontop of this he had secured a deal with a new sponsor in the midlands who wished for him to ride locally to them if possible! Â Also have you ever thought of asking Matt himself about these accusations instead of believing everything you see and hear on social networking sites and forums I can assure you he would happily tell you that money is not a high on his list he just has a huge passion for achieving the best he possibly can. Fatlad
I didn't speculate at all . I said "I would say" perhaps I should have said " I am saying". It was merely my way of framing his decision making process, which I discussed with him at great length. And yes this is an expensive sport, find me one that isn't, and he probably does have a better opportunity of funding it at Dudley. The opportunity to join Scunthorpe in both leagues was not available at the time as the running of the Stags has only just come to fruition. You will no doubt recall comments that were made regarding Matt potentially sitting out the NL this year. No idea where they came from , certainly not from "anyone around him". And as for "honesty" , I am all for it but it has to be reciprocal. Â More than willing to continue this discussion face to face should the opportunity arise. Neil H
Just in from work and looked to see if there is any news on riders for Buxton, but nothing new anyone no anything that's happening, Neil H surely you no something Sorry to disappoint but I know nothing. I am no longer involved with the press side at the club so it is up to Jayne and Zoe to release information when they are good and ready. We could well have 7 riders signed up but the season doesn't start at Buxton until April so I don't know what all the fuss is about. Just chill and get excited when the racing gets under way. Jayne
Fatlad - it was Matt himself who said to Richard Moss that he didn't know if he was riding NL when asked if he would be returning to Buxton. Rebel1
And I thought Kent had issues. Reading on this site it seems endemic in the sport. The best thing about the National League is when you unearth a real winner and they do not materialise that quick!
teddy2706
S.S. Reports Tom Woolley has put pen to paper. I am glad about that, I didn't fancy Jayne signing that Wholey bloke whose name keeps appearing on this thread, no-one seemed to have heard of him. fredbogge
Maybe down to £10.00 per point
greyhoundp
Maybe down to £10.00 per point Yeah well thats not Buxtons fault, they pay the rate they can afford, maybe its not feasible to control the pay rates, but if the points limit is lowered then that is a more controlable way of indirectly putting a limit on riders pay, this year there does appear to be a shortage of middle to higher average riders available. However with the draft maybe some riders wont ride for £10 per point, but if they want to be included in the following seasons draft, then they do need a NL average. Damo b
I don't quite understand this lower points limit makes it cheaper situation. Here goes, a team has a 40 point limit, it hires a 4 pointer and offers to pay him £25 a point, as he shows real potential and is worth it, he scored 8 points in most meetings, and then earns £200.  The same thing happens but the team points limit is 35, if he is on the same package, and some might say if the points limit was lower he would be more in demand so could earn potentially more, 8 x 25 is still 200.  There are the same amount of points available at a meeting regardless of the team points limit. If there are 20 riders available then they can be shared around, if there are 10 available then they can hold out for £20/30 pound per point, basically its supply and demand, this year there is a shortage of middle and top order riders, so the riders that are available, can dictate what they want, to a certain extent. This applies also to most jobs, 1 applicant can dictate more his terms than a job that has 20 applicants, at least thats how it is in my line of work, why do you think big bosses want us to remain in the EU ?. Im not meaning how many points are available, i do realise its the same whatever the limit, this is about how much they get paid for each point, 20 riders after i available position, or 1 rider after 20 positions, i know which one will be able to strike the best deal, i repeat myself, this year there is a rider shortage, and the smaller teams will suffer, and struggle to be competitive especially away from home.
