therefused
Same riders? None of the 2014 Kent Kings riders are also riding for Rye House in the PL. Only one (Ben Morley) of the '13 squad appeared for the Rockets last season. Simon Lambert is in both teams.
iris123
Think we have learnt not to take Parsloes word as gospel, but with a pinch of salt.Bit strange for a prgramme editior to get it wrong all the time.Wonder what his notes read like in the programme? lol
therefused
Must say getting fed up with all this the name of the Forum is Kent Kings 2014 ! Len Silver is also from Kent lets remember that as an old Canterbury Supporter he is not my favororite person but without him and Roger this club would never have came into being As for the 2014 Kings riding for other clubs Simon Lambert is named for Kent Rye House and Birmingham so if all 3 clubs are riding on the same day does he wear the CTA Kings colors or Rye House being his Parent Club or Brummies as he has been Fast Tracked ? The rule states that the parent club gets priority, but as Lambert isnt an asset of any of the clubs (still an asset of Kings Lynn i believe), i reckon Birmingham will get the priority.

waco
Ben Morley is also riding for Lakeside this season as a draft rider,,,as there are many riders riding for several clubs this season, it would be a good idea for some one to find out which clubs have priority on nights of clashes ,which will be many.. For the various scenarios that different riders are in ,at the moment it is as clear as mud and the B.S.P.A ,,should confirm exactly what will happen under the varying circumstances riders find themselves in ??
Rebel1
Obviously if Mr Cairns wanted to be more hands on he could be its his Stadium. but he chose the route the track would operate in and thats the way it is ,unless he changes it at any time . .I have the greatest respect for Nikko ,as a PR man he did a great job for the Kent Kings last season,,but what ever the problems were ,( and i don,t know,),,,It is a fact that those who hold the purse strings make the decisions ..The main thing is Kent has a Speedway team of committed riders who want to win and entertain their fans, and know they are going to get paid on time by an honest promotion,,(Which they are here) ..We have speedway in a superb venue , So lets be gratefull for that ,and if you love the sport, support it,.Especially after Kent being in the competative speedway wilderness for so many years... So how honest is honest? May depend upon the particular aspect of the promotion you are looking at. Ask those who have left for their opinions! Oh yes so situation could arise if Lakeside against Birmingham Kings could have 2 heat leaders missing really does need to be confirmed who rides where before season starts
Nikko
Not sure what the rules are but Simon is definitely going to be busy, my guess, and it is a guess, is that the rules for Simon will be in the order he signed for this season which I think is Rye House, Birmingham, Kent but then...... I think I read somewhere that with the NL riders in the EL draft the NL team gets priority so when Lakeside & Birmingham race on a Monday then Ben & Simon would ride for Kent, unless Rye House were riding then Simon would ride for them. Confused?!? Finally, be interesting to see who the second reserve is? Edited December 28, 2013 by Nikko

phillipsr
If its the same with draft riders as everyone else then whoever owns the rider gets priority if neither of the clubs own him its whoever he has ridden for the longest. So in Morleys case Kent have priority as he rode there last year. In lamberts case Rye get prority then whoever signed him 1st out of Kings and Brunmies. Its only what ive been told sorry id its wrong If its the same with draft riders as everyone else then whoever owns the rider gets priority if neither of the clubs own him its whoever he has ridden for the longest. Shadders
Len Silver offers to help a new venture, moves his own people in, alienating the enthusiasts who started the thing up in the first place. History repeating itself. I'm surprised anyone's surprised.
Nikko
Hi Shadders No criticism of your post but I think it's important to state that those that have left, for whatever reason, are more than enthusiasts. One has over 10 years experience of working directly with promoters within speedway clubs, one has over 40 years experience of running motorcycle events, another has over 12 years experience working with speedway and other sports and another has over 10 years sports experience. They are also successful businessmen in their own right and had experience in areas that supplemented that of Mr Cearns and Mr Silver. All are being, or have been replaced, by current stadium and/or Rye House people. As I have said before, I wish the Kings nothing but success but will always wonder what would have happened if the new ideas, marketing etc would have been allowed to continue. Hi Nikko i heard that EL got priority over NL but not 100% sure so if lakeside & birmingham race on a monday Ben & Simon wood both miss the kent meeting. Ouch, hope for the Kings fans this is not correct. Edited December 29, 2013 by Nikko
Jonny the spud
I feel sorry for kent. Hopefully I'm proved wrong but only time will tell. I'm 49 years old and have two successful businesses that both use Facebook / twitter / websites and without them I'd be struggling to compete with my competition. It is THE way of getting your message over in this day and age. Anyone who ignores it is doomed to failure. I visited kent once last year as I live overseas but I followed the track building, team building , match reports and press releases with interest. It really seemed to be an exciting prospect. Now however it all seems to be going ** up, the only thing you hear from the club us negative and once in a blue moon I went to RH. A couple of times last year ( you know, the club who's selling point is the best fish and chips in speedway) the stadium was a tip. The music was from 50 years ago. The presentation was dire and the fish and chips were crap. ( and run out before heat 6) It's quite depressing to see the hope that was there last year disappear into a 1960's time warp. Oh well, what a wasted effort instead of what could have been Edited December 29, 2013 by Jonny the spud

Fingers crossed that the unhappiness reflected in them will be noted and things will take a turn for the better. I wonder if the local Press is aware of what's happening and what their attitude will be towards the club in 2014.

I think your comment about the stadium being a tip is a little off the mark though. On what basis do you make that comment? I'm not a regular, but when I do visit, I find it to be very clean and tidy, with plenty of seating along with covered accommodation if required. I can't think of a great many stadia that are any better!!
Parsloes 1928 nearly
The negativity on here is shocking. We have in Central Park a brilliant new venue for Speedway. Last winter the BSF was full of doom and gloom saying, with the 6.30pm start time no-one would turn up and those people were proven completely wrong. Can I respectfully suggest that people stop with all this negative nonsense as it really isn't helpful. Have long found the BSF the place where views most damaging to our sport reside - I pray god, seeing the local press was mentioned, that no sports journos from outside the sport do ever look on here, because the impression they would get would indeed be awful. Couple of quick points. 1) Incorrect to say that Mr. Silver has only joined up with Kent after the hard work of loads of others. Actually Len has been involved from the very beginning of the Kent Speedway story, from back in 2008 when he advised on and helped Cearnsport with the original (and let's remember, successful) Planning application. This is, I'd respectfully suggest, before any of the rest of us got involved (though I did do the articles for the Speedway Star on that Planning meeting and interview with Mr. Cearns at that time); and 2) As Mimmo has pointed out, extremely harsh to brand Rye House a "tip" - can't think of many places which stage Speedway which have had more investment in recent times in improving facilities - for example, the red seats Len Silver obtained from the closed-down Walthamstow dog track.
