Kent Kings 2014

So at this moment in time, what is the difference between iwade, a licensed SCB circuit and lydd, a non licensed track. When both of these venues currently run without an air fence.

As they are entitle to do. The use of Air Fences basically is only for clubs competing in league or affiliate competitions under SCB jurisdiction.

Iwade may be licenced but it is not competing in any official competition, therefore no need to have an Air Fence.

Technically there is no difference in regard to Iwade and Lydd in the matter of Air Fences - they simply do not have to have them.

Seeing as the order to install an air fence is an SCB directive, will iwade be issued with a SCB licence in 2014.

In the words of the famous song "..round and round forever..."! No, Iwade will not need an Air Fence. They do not compete in any official competition. It is only for tracks that stage SCB/BSPA league, cup competitions, etc.

Your sarcastic reply does not answer my question. Regardless of what meetings are staged there ,Will iwade still be licensed by the SCB in 2014, or will it be blacklisted like lydd has for many years with riders being advised not to ride there by the SCB!!!

His sarcastic reply means that he doesn't know the answer.

His further reply shows that he doesn't know that the "Speedway Control Board" doesn't even exist ....and hasn't for over 10 years now!

I apologise for the sarcastic tone of my reply. I think the best people to answer your query would be the BSPA/SCB.

These Links might possibly give you help in contacting them. Good luck in your search for an answer.

This is a further contact Link to the SCB

This direct Link to Iwade aka Sittingbourne may also offer a contact for you to pursue your query re the Air Fence and the track's licencing status in 2014.

A friend who wishes to be anonymous but who is well versed in Kent speedway happenings has sent me this email which may be of further interest in this matter:

He writes: "Iwade and Lydd will NOT need air fences - but not having them will mean they can't stage BSPA licenced events. Irrevalent for the Smiths at Lydd whose track has never had a licence.. But for Iwade it will mean they shan't be allowed to stage a GB Youth meeting again until such a time as they did get an air fence and also couldn't enter a League (including a junior/development league)."

Wonder who that is Gustix? LOL

If it's who I think it is, then he claims to be well versed in both Kent and Iwade although I'm not sure that's true on either count LMAO.

Anyway back to the thread.............

Who will the 7th rider be?

Also Merry Xmas to all Kent, Iwade and Speedway fans.

What's happening?

http://www.kentkings.co/mobile/

This is the message I get when I try to access the Kent Kings website. Perhaps its gone for an early Christmas day lunch?

The Kent Kings promotion have decided to go in a different direction with the website in 2014 and go with AP Media who do the Rye House and BSPA websites, amongst others. They have also released the original press company from dealing with press releases. I don't know who will be doing them from now on.

As the current arrangement has come to and end the inaugural website has been removed and there will be no website until AP Media upload theirs sometime in 2014.

Sorry to everyone who has visited the original website in the past but the promotion have decided to change this for the future.

Any news on the Kings will now come through Mr Silver or AP Media.

I dont know, but from the outside i see Kent coming more and more under the control of Mr Silver and his Team, now seeing where this has got Rye House thats a shame, because Kent have a fantastic facility, which has the potential to become an Elite League Team, and certainly enough fans to support such a venture. Can they do this under the guidance of Len Silver? i dont know.

What i do know is in 2013, Kent did a pretty good PR job, with new modern approaches taken on board, now it seems to be falling back to the same old tried, trusted and failed ways of other promotions, Kent are an opportunity to do there own thing, which Mr Cairns or Len Silver prefer not to want, and prefer to go with AP Media, and now we know why the previous PR Teams were allegedly dismissed, its all very, very sad.

It appears a lot of people are upset with Len over this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/558778887481125/

All makes for interesting reading. At least to an outsider.Seems there are a lot of upset people, full stop!!!Stuff about the programme awards and the track announcer, and i only read back to the beginning of the month.Looks like i missed lot more good stuff throughout the year lol

I'd say it must be hoped that Kent sometime soon stands on it's own feet. The important thing at the moment must be stability and stopping the boat rocking too much

This will be a Christmas mystery to me - and probably many others. Unless you are prepared to join Facebook you are left wondering...

Any chance you can transcribe Len Silver's message please?

The link with Len Silver's comment will only transcribe if you are a Facebook member. I am not and because of previous problems with the Facebook forum when I was I am reluctant to join. I would appreciate it if somebody could transcribe what Silver said, but readily understand also if this is not possible.

Greyhoundp - at last, someone who gets what we were trying to do. Proper PR, new technology, we had a team of professional people showing how it could be done. From mid season after Len Silver brought in his ex wife and others from Rye House, one by one the guys were belittled and treated like idiots. We were called amateurs to our faces which is interesting, as we are all succesful businessmen in our own right. It was totally a clash of ideals (new and exciting) to (old hat and no longer effective).

Gustix - the link on here is to a thread of Facebook as you say. It's not a post from Len Silver it started with my thoughts about the Kings deciding to stop using the Web company I put in for 2013, and paid for as sponsorship by the way, with Andy Povey. Now I have no issue per se with Andy, who I know, but I think it's a backwards step from what we had. A number of fans have commented on the thread that they don't like the fact that Len is seemingly taking over and one by one some key people have left or been pushed out by Len.

To me the Kings had the chance to show speedway that some news ideas on how to promote could work. We tried and think if you look back to last winter we succeeded. Having done the hard work the club have decided to go back to traditional promotion. It will be interesting to see the crowd numbers next season.

At the end of the day the Kent Kings will continue without our involvement and at some point without Len Silvers involvement, the important thing is the club.

Despite what anyone make think, I wish the Kent Kings all the best for next season.
