Kent Kings 2014

Still quiet on the Kings front I see.

With the promoter entering a busy period at Christmas with the Greyhounds and the co-promoter not giving out any news either about the Kings or the possible Raiders I guess the fans could be left in the dark until the New Year which to be fair is what they told the press officer 2 months ago.

I am sure riders are being signed, but maybe a little bit of promotion would not go amiss.

I have even had a local newspaper contact me asking if the Kings are still in existence!

Scary.

What response did you give them. I agree, the situation re Kings-Raiders is rather bewildering - at the moment. Maybe it will be clarified soon. Supporters cannot be kept in the dark too long otherwise their goodwill to a promotion might/could evaporate. And nobody wants to see that happen.

I told them it was often the case in speedway that there's little or no news over the winter but that the owners would be putting together a team for next year. I then gave them the Press Officers details.

The interesting reply from the journalist was to ask how would all the new fans made last year know this as last year there was news every week from mid October?

Good question, I pointed them again at the Press Officer.

no news is bad news. we should be signing a rider like Worrall now that Boxall is back with RH. we are getting left behind and it looks like the promotion just don't give a toss. we need to start the new season as we left it; unbeatable at home and on the verge of taking points away. i even spotted on here that the crowd favourite (Jack Kingston) is being suggested as another teams number 2. FO!

This is my concerns and supporters are left in the dark a usual. It is a strange/stupid situation that the supposed co-promoter/manager may well be off to another team !!!!!!!!! All this and we have teams like Cradley/Mildenhall etc merrily signing riders.Bonkers.

Going back to happier times in speedway promoting to the Ronnie Greene (Wimbledon), Johnnie Hoskins (Belle Vue) and Fred Mockford )New Cross) era - in the close season they used to phone their local newspapers and the speedway press during the winter with "updates".

Needless to say, Jphnnie's especially were "true classics that needed a pinch of salt." But the trio were REAL promoters. There were several others on the same mould who also made sure their supporters and the important press contacts were not forgotten in the close season.

May be something for the Kent Kings PR team to ponder?

Those days they were PROPER promoters.Unlike today where supporters are treated like they do not matter.IMHO.

Tim Allen is the press Officer, all details on how to contact him are on the Kent Kings website. I fear you will get little joy as he is not told very much anyway and even less in what he is allowed to put in print.

Did not know the `Kings` are part of the secret service.

What I would like to know is, has the air fence been ordered and will the track be sorted out. Too many meetings were run last season with the circuit down to the base after a few races.

The best person to contact for information would be Kings' press officer Tim Allen!

Hi Hector, yes I did notice but nothing to do with me as you know lol

I know that as soon as Tim is given info and told to release information he will do so ASAP.

At the moment the promotion are sticking with their first week of November comment that there's not likely to be any news until into the New Year.

I wonder if the originator of the thread is able to change the logo to one for Kent Kings? I agree it does look rather odd to see a Rye House Rockets logo but for all that it does not detract from the value of comments currently been aired on here in regard to Kent Kings and 2014.

Interesting to note that water is still laying in large puddles on the start and on the entry and exit of the first bend, that is after attending two dog meetings over six weeks apart and little rain in the meantime. A lot of work is needed to put this right and proves the point the circuit was never put down correctly in the first place.

I can only assume that the track will be worked on when Mr Silver returns from his annual winter in the French alps.

He was very critical of it last year and of the volunteers who helped him lay it, so assume he will be doing a lot of work on it in the Spring to put it right, hopefully he will get it right the second time, as that stadium deserves a great racetrack.

I always remember one of the great track men "Huggy" bending my ear saying good tracks need to worked on all year, obviously less in winter, but it's the time for maintenance etc.

15 pages and hardly a mention of what team you would like to see. I'd say David Mason, Ben Morley and Jack for starters. Maybe Daryll Ritchings ,Ben Hopwood and Brandon Freemantle if the Island is a no go. No idea of averages for this lot.

Ben Hopwood would be a very good shout, if memory is correct I think he scored a max at CP last season and is a great lad with very good support from his dad Chaz.

If Mildenhall don't use Aaron Baseby, he would be a very good signing, and a local lad as well for local fans to follow. Not sure he would sign for the Kings though.

Anyway I am sure riders are being lined up.

As a start, what about.

1. Ben Morley

2. Aaron Baseby

3. David Mason

4. Ben Hopwood

5, Benji Compton

6. Jack Kingston

7. Adam Kirby

Don't have averages to hand so no idea if it fits.
