bri1966
Should Austalian riders who come to Britian on a three average have to comit to riding for GB? I think they should they are taking team places from young British riders . If they do not comit to GB they should come in on a six point average
scaramanga
young aussies come in a 5 point average dont they the ones who come in claimimg british ansestry and start on a 3 point average well yes i agree they should ride as a brit and ride on a british race licence and not be alowed to ride for aus in internationl meetings just like our british 2013 world champion tai woffinden Edited October 19, 2013 by scarra
Warriors
Absolutely spot on they only want to use there ancestry to come on a 3 pointer so if they want to do that then they should ride under the british flag if they don't then it's a 5 point average simple as.
scunny1
I, like Tai, was born in Scunthorpe, does that make me an Aussie? His Father and Mother were born here, his Father died here and his Mother still lives on the outskirts of Scunthorpe-give it a rest folks we have a World Champion and he is British and a Scunthonian.

barncooseboy
Lets stretch this discussion a little further, Polish immigrants who are already living and working in the UK decides to have a go at speedway having been, say, an agricultural worker for a couple of years what would their position be? Should they be allowed a National Leagu place as they are still pottential wobblers.
Lord Antebellum
This discussion in running in parallel to the questions over the kid who popped up at Manchester United! As borders dissolve, the question of 'nationality' becomes more-muddied. However, I agree that, if a hypothetical Australian-born rider who qualifies for dual nationality and uses that advantage to claim a lower CMA in British racing, then yes, he should be required to declare himself as "British" and commit to an ACU licence. kelvinht
There would also need to be some FIM ruling that what ever country a rider clams to belong to he has to remain as that through out his career, otherwise you get riders chopping and changing to suit themselves like Rune Holta did... Might be mistaken, but i thought there was one introduced fairly recently.I did see mention a few days ago that Russian born Loktaev who has turned Ukranian is now thinking of changing back to being a Russian,so maybe there isn't such a rule.Or maybe he is just going back to riding on a Russian licence...... I'm not 100% sure that the Under 21's count, but I do know Nick Morris was advised not to enter when he was considering riding for GB.
