lynnboy
Really who do you think will be backing the team Rob Godfrey or Matt Ford? Matt Ford is always trying to keep one step ahead if the reserve structure stays in place for the next few years it will be a production line for Poole pirates Edited February 10, 2014 by lynnboy
Bagpuss
Of course it will but at the moment all he has done is put some money in, Godfrey is the one putting in the hard work as he has done for the last ten years or so. A bit disrespectful to call it Ford's team, a man who has done very little for grass roots or British youngsters over the years.
Halifaxtiger
Furrow Some people wonder why team managers and promoters choose not to come on here. Comments like yours are the reason. Anyone that knows me and what I stand for and have done already with the young stars knows how I work. Being a " mate " has nothing to do with it. As for ambition again you clearly don't know me at all.  The way I see it, remarks like that are not a reason for team managers to avoid this forum but more of a reason for them to participate. While I think most know those comments are total rubbish, setting the record straight puts them to bed for everyone.  I take it you was referring to me Greg so I have a few points here for you  1. I never said kingslynn have not produced any talent, I have said I am not happy with some of the riders who are not going to improve there average and would rather have a national league team of young up and coming riders.  2. Yes Darren Mallett has proved he can ride in the premier but how many years ago was that Greg ?  3. James Cockle will be 28 this year so how can he get in the elite league unless he has a season like Robert Lambert as he is too old to be a reserve in the elite!  4. I do get behind the team Greg as I have been supporting the stars home and away long before you where born.  5. please don't class me as a keyboard warrior when you don't even know me.  6. I do have my eyes open when I go to speedway if not it would not be worth going would it!!!  I just want to see up and coming riders not run of the mill riders, that's what this league was set up for, I bet Matt Ford will be putting youngsters in his team at Scunthorpe.  I think you have to have a sense of realism, too, because the team that the Young Stars put out must be at least reasonably competitive. Line up a team of youngsters (if they are available, which is of itself a further issue - you can't get a Robert Lambert in your side every year) and they could get humped home and away every week and prove a burden not just to the King's Lynn promotion but to every other team in the league because very few will want to watch them. NL speedway might be about development, but it must be at least reasonably financially sustainable.  To me, the question is attempting to combine developing riders with others so that the team can compete (I think its the case that every team so far has someone who might, possibly unfairly, be stated to be an NL journeyman). In addition, it is accepted that having a more senior rider in the team is usually a good idea, because they are able to pass on their expertise and experience for the benefit of those who are younger.  The Young Stars have a good record of giving talented youngsters their chance whilst ensuring that people will want to watch them. To me, that's very much to the credit of Buster Chapman and Dale Allitt. Edited February 10, 2014 by Halifaxtiger
semion
Matt Ford throwing a few quid at Scunthorpe cannot be compared to the amount of time, effort and indeed money that Buster has put into youth development at Kings Lynn. Did Ford not chance his arm with Bournemouth, look how long that lasted.
TMW
Rose is a relative newcomer. Even the development guru (joke!) RG reckons it takes 2 seasons for a rider to develop. 1st season NL 2nd NL/PL . Josh Bailey could be 'the find' of the season and they already have Alec Wright knocking at the door you can't have a whole team of rookies because they have no one to learn from. That is the sadness of the MDL anyone with any experience isn't allowed to ride in it so again no one to learn from. Mallet has shed loads to offer as does Campos and Cockle particularly about the different tracks etc and Rose will be learning from Bjerre NKI and hopefully passing that in to Edited February 10, 2014 by TMW
lynnboy
Andy Mountain rides in mdl and he is the wrong side of 30 so you can have senior riders in the mdl.

TMW
Andy Mountain rides in mdl and he is the wrong side of 30 so you can have senior riders in the mdl. That is because he doesn't have any kind of current record etc. and a very valuable inclusion he is to !!!
Allitt Racing
Andy will not be riding for the MDL team this season sadly. He has helped in a big way over the last two seasons and I would like to thank him for that. However he is now putting all his efforts into Connor and I am sure everyone will understand that. Â TMW You know my thoughts on what you have said ref the MDL I agree
Bagpuss
HT is right, its not possible at the moment to pack an NL side with promising youngsters every year. There will be peaks and troughs. The team which reached the grand final last season contained five riders who had their first competitive rides in the UK for the Young Stars and the other two were doing laps round Lynn before they turned 16, and that's something to be very proud of. The team may not be packed with homegrown youngsters for 2014 but it may well be again next year, and let's not forget that the two reserves come March could have been NDL Lightning products had Mountain not been offered more money down the road in Suffolk.

Parsloes 1928 nearly
Parsloes my guess is JACK KINGSTON AND DAN BLAKE ?. Ive been through the list but i have no idea really..?? Well, yep, one is Jack - born at King George's Hospital in Ilford when the family lived in Barking - yes, these are in London boroughs before anyone cries, 'Essex' at me!! Â And the other isn't Daniel, it's Ryan Terry-Daly - who though raised in NZ was born in Hammersmith! Young Ryan told me last year that the first part of his double-barrelled surname signifies he's related to - funny enuff - someone else from Barking; a sportsman who's made his name not too far from Hammersmith, in Chelsea to be precise! Not sure if he was winding me up on that family link to former England football captain, John Terry..?!

vog
Kyle Hughes is a terrific signing  Kyle Hughes is a hit or miss signing. On his day, he can be untouchable in the NL, but if his confidence waivers, or his machinery starts to go, that's that.  Would love for him to have a big season, because he needs it!
