Birmingham 2014

Recommended Posts

Could be, could be tasteless.

Let's look at the facts as already mentioned and known.

Riders not being paid on time

Pulling out of Barker deal

WM banned from PB

Team manager abused during live meeting

Team manager owed 2 months wages

Etc.

One of the above would appear to be the fault of Phil Morris.

If Alan Phillips does reply, it will be very interesting indeed.

Haven't heard APs side of the story, but have just heard Wizzers side on BBC WM!!

TWO sides to every story...

Irrelevant now, the club has been screwed to such an extent now, no one will want to touch it with a bargepole in 2014 without new management, might be two sides, but one side has zero trust and credibility after this season, I initially stood up for the management, hoping it was mischief making by some and they were well meaning, if inexperienced, to find out what's actually gone on, they should be hung out to dry IMO for misleading us and putting the clubs very future at stake as a result that no one will want to do business with them anymore.

I can't believe Phillips has had the bare faced cheek to have a go at Morris for "washing dirty linen in public" at least Phil was professional enough to not say anything during the season or while under contract, you Mr Phillips however have been airing dirty washing in public for the last 18 months, complete hypocrite.

Morris came across as straight, professional; Phillips didn't impress. It seems there is someone on the management team that appears to be a bit of a loose cannon. Riders upset over sponsorship on race jackets; riders not paid on time; Morris annoyed about the timing of the Civic Reception and been abused/sworn at while conducting a TV interview by a member of Birmingham's management team!

If this is what has become public I hate to think what has really gone on? Does anyone know who swore at Morris; it clearly wasn't Drury or Phillips?

All in all not good; I wouldn't want to have to be selling this package to potential sponsors; still that's McLaughlin job, unless he's going to quit as well?

Some honest facts ! something speedways number one journalist Mr Pearson regularly chooses to ignore when he waxes lyrical over Birmingham and their promoters whenever Sky roll up at Perry Bar.

From todays Birmingham Mail.

Co-owner offers to leave club if it benefits speedway club

Alan Phillips claims he was kept in the dark over Phil Morriss plan to leave the club

And the Brummies co-owner has admitted he would be happy to leave Perry Barr himself – if it was in the best interests of the club.

In another dramatic twist in what is becoming something of a sporting soap opera, Phillips has revealed how a meeting took place between his co-owner Chris Luty, Morris and skipper Danny King when he was on holiday.

“I didn’t know that meeting had taken place until Friday when Phil had already resigned,” he said.

“You can draw your own conclusions from that, but that’s the main reason why I was surprised by the timing of it all because Phil was part of the future plans at Birmingham.

“I was aware there were issues but I felt confident these could have been overcome in good time for next season. I have the highest regard for what Phil achieved this year and as a person, but this is bad timing in my view.”

Morris has revealed how his meeting with Luty addressed his issues but clearly nothing had been done to resolve them.

Phillips said: “I really have no idea why I wasn’t told about that meeting. You’ll have to ask the other people concerned. I was first told about it when it was too late.”

And Phillips says he would leave the club if he felt it was the right thing for them.

“I’ve given it my very best and made some mistakes along the way,” said the Solihull businessman. “And, yes, if I felt it was in the best interests of Birmingham Speedway then I would hand it over to somebody else.

“I was disappointed by some of the comments made by Phil, to claim he was working with amateurs is out of order in my view.

“We will make a decision on which direction the club is going this week, I need to speak to Chris Luty again and take it from there.

“I’ve felt isolated at times this season – I’ve got a partner who doesn’t want to be involved on a day-to-day basis, I’ve been trying to keep Phil and co-promoter Graham Drury happy, keep our commercial guy Joe McLaughlin happy, keep the riders happy and keep the fans happy.

"It’s been impossible at times.”

I'll leave everyone to draw their own conclusions from this statement..................

.More water to pass under the bridge before the season starts methinks.

I love the Aldridge road zig zag bridge many happy times playing down there as a kid, although it wasn't so much water as chemical waste that use to flow under it back in my day :o

I believe at one time, it was Europe’s most polluted river “WE ARE NUMBER ONE...YEAH” :D

I know Birmingham are listed as such on the BSPA site, but will they really be in the EL next year, I wonder?

Or will this be a way for Peterbro under new ownership to stay in the top flight?
