Birmingham 2014

WONDER if Drury will still be there with just one year left on his contract, or will he leave and work on his special little book.

Also a question about the ownership of the club, given in todays local paper its says Chris Luty is awaiting developments at the BSPA. Whatever that means?

Well just to bump the Brummies up the page a bit.................

.............some (sort of) news.

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/other-sport/birmingham-brummies-phil-morris-says-6270997

The most important bit from that article is when it says Morris wants to be charge of the Brummies next year. I'm sure thats great to hear for all Brummies fans, as there have been posts on this forum from other fans that say would like Phil at their club. That shows what a great job he has done at the Brummies and should Middlo not continue as Team GB boss, then he's the ideal person to take over. :approve:

Next years team building will be no different to other years at Brum, with us waiting to see what riders will be available after their parent clubs decide whether to include them. I would love to see the bulk of this years side come back next year but 5 of the 7 are assets of other clubs so it's likely that some wont be back, which would be a great shame. At least being positive, having hardly no assets didnt harm us last season, so hopefully some decent riders will be available and Phil can build a decent side. :t:

Says in the Speedway Star that Jason Doyle is looking for a new club next year, more than likely back at Swindon. A shame, as Ive really loved watching Doyley this year.

Also there are doubts that Brummies will be in the top flight next year, cant say I'm surprised given money worries of the past 2 seasons.

Hope theres any kind of speedway at Perry Barr next year, but an article in todays Brum Mail says there has been an approach for Danny King from another club.

Wonder ifs thats a clue Birmingham could be in a lower league next season.

Well with Harris back at Coventry, Barker still a Bees asset (and Horton not doing future business with Brummies?!), Doyle definitely going elsewhere and now an offer for King, its not looking too positive for Brummies at the top level!! But then it ain't looking that positive for any clubs at the 'top' level!!!!

Daniel King being an asset should see him return next season as their number one, but Ipswich are rumoured to be looking at moving up and want King along with Nicholls to spearhead them in the EL should they move up but may settle for Barker on loan instead.

Martin Smolinski should be back as Coventry have other targets and there is unlikely to be much of a queue for him after one very good season and along with Auty and Covatti form the body of next years team in a reduced limit and if they keep King or Barker, then there won't be much left for them to finish the team if the limit is as low as 38 or even 36.

With Andersen and Kildemand competing in the Danish league, they could be forced out at Swindon and Doyle steps in there but Coventry tried for Doyle a few years ago and may finally get their man to join Harris and Hansen.

I don't think that means anything. If the EL is significantly weakened in 2014 then King is on a very awkward average of 7.46. He isn't a #1 by any stretch of the imagination, but he would effectively be on a #1's average.

That's running averages. He actually scored over 8 this year.

He's on an average been on a near average of 7.5 for a year at least now, yes he didn't hack it at number 1 this year but against much stronger number 1's, there's going to be no Lindgren, at most one of Ward and Holder (probably neither), and you'd say the likes of NKI, Zagar, Bjerre and Andersen may give it a miss too, so after that who are you looking at as real competition as a number 1 in comparison to King? Woffinden.......and not much else. He certainly wouldn't be a stand out but he'd be a lot more successful than he has been previously.
