Guest
This is offbeat to Buxton's end of season event. I would like an answer to this - 50p with my eldest son hinges on the answer! Was the present speedway track also housed in the same place as the present small car oval race circuit? My son insists that it was - I reject that theory. And, for interest sake, if it was the former which sport was originally at Buxton - the bikes or the cars? And if there was a move by the bike fraternity in what year did it take place? fredbogge
Cars first in the 1970`s on a hardcore track then as the stadium developed the track was tarmaced. Speedway came later on what was the center green, but it was a tight little track long straights and very tight bends.A few years later the stadium operators offered Ken Moss the field behind the stockcar track and thats where the track is now still run by the Moss family Edited October 15, 2013 by fredbogge

Jayne
Dean is quite correct the end of season awards night is on Saturday 16th November at the Winking Man on the A53 between Buxton and Leek. Tickets are available from the speedway office at £10 per person to include buffet and disco. All riders are invited and most are expected to be in attendance.
