Starman2006
Bit harsh that.--seems its a change in the rules that has caught them out,not so much they didnt sort them out Im not aware of any rule changes..
dump that clutch
if only Morris was in a position (which he isn't) to tell Somerset where to go if they came back begging for him to ride... after they stitched him up a few weeks ago...... Can't see them begging Morris to come back as he will still be missing the same amount of matches but stand to be corrected.
lewy
Morris wont be at somerset imo.i reckon they have already tied up a deal with someone if they have no joy with doyle;-)
montie
Im not aware of any rule changes.. Its something to do with re-newing the T2 visa,or maybe something to do with the fact that the tier2`s were never meant for Speedway anyway and the power at be have picked up on it I was told that at one time if you had an issue you could leg it to Canberra and get it sorted, but now all Visa`s etc are out sourced to Manilla or some place I wonder what would happen if Doyle etc jumped on a plane on a tourist visa, say for a month, then went to Aussie embassy in London and said hey mate i been offered a job--can i stay for six months or can you fix it for me ---wonder if that would work? Still think that somewhere the UKBA will show some sense and allow them in,after all they are i guess reasonable people whos job is to prevent ass holes etc coming in not some lad who will come, work and pay tax
Cliffeboy
if only Morris was in a position (which he isn't) to tell Somerset where to go if they came back begging for him to ride... after they stitched him up a few weeks ago...... I love posts like this, I do not think for one minute Somerset will be "begging"anyone to ride for them. As noted earlier Nick was in the team and wanted until a mix up over averages meant he was released, not his or Somersets fault.Nick is massively popular with the crowd and the promotion at Somerset and as Gary May pointed out at the time a horrible decision had to be made. I would imagine that if JD can`t come back Nick would be a shoe in to come back a situation that would suit both parties, but not the end of the world if he didn`t.For what it is worth I was gutted that he was released but understood the reasons why, the club is bigger than any rider and I for one would be well happy if JD`s misfortune would result in Nick coming back. A decision I think Doyley would endorse aswell.

I don't think Somerset really have to beg about anything. It was circumtances. And i wouldn't say he waas stitched up. Personally, i would have dropped Olly Allen. But if Nick has to miss a lot of meetings, then its vindacated. But again, stand to be corrected.. That said, id still have Nick in my team anyday, still improving, and a big year for him. But i do agree with your bottom paragrapgh..
Alan_Jones
Once the Morris "will he, won't he?" situation is sorted, those of us outside Somerset await the denouement of the Kurtz average fiasco. Has it been funny handshakes all round and say no more, or will we see a team or teams riding under protest until justice is done?
bringbackHalifax
And we are assuming that these Aussie riders pay tax in the uk !!
womble53
Looking at the UKBA website,i fail to see why Doyle etc cant use T5 visas, infact the wording of it indicates that that is the one they should use,not T2 Whilst I can see where you're coming from, it would appear that's not possible, as the rules for applying suggest that having used a T5 visa once, you can never apply to use one again, unless of course I'm reading it wrong. UK BORDER AGENCY -Other requirements When you apply, you must confirm that you have: you have never been in the UK at any time in the former 'working holidaymaker' category or under the youth mobility scheme. If you have previously been in the UK under a different immigration category such as Tier 1 (Post study work), you can apply for a youth mobility scheme visa. With that in mind, the fact that they would never have to endorse the same rider twice for a T5 visa, it makes the BSPA's stand of not endorsing a T 5 application even more confusing. Maybe one day they will enlighten us all, and we'll all be able to judge the merits of their position. Still think that somewhere the UKBA will show some sense and allow them in,after all they are i guess reasonable people whos job is to prevent ass holes etc coming in not some lad who will come, work and pay tax Don't hold your breath on that one, but having said that, it seems that it would only take the governing bodies endorsement of any T5 application to overcome most difficulties, and as far as I know, the vast majority, probably all, of those currently finding themselves looking down the T5 route, have contributed in the correct way to the taxation system in this country. orderly
Now that Nick Morris has confirmed that he is staying with Swindon, How long will it be before it is announced that he has resigned for Somerset As far as I can see Nick would miss 8 meetings they are: April: 1 Away v Ipswich & 2 Home meetings v Plymouth & v Rye House May: 1 Away v Redcar June:1 Away v Plymouth July: 1 Home v Workington August: 1 Away v Sheffield & 1 Home v Rye House Edited January 28, 2014 by starshooter

Cliffeboy
Who's fault was it then??.... Probably the BSPA if you read the Somerset account of what happened as they were led to believe Brady was coming in on a three, which apparently was what his parents thought aswell. If you are interested in apportioning blame then surely it is there. There is an excellent explanation of the whole saga on the Rebels website. Now that Nick Morris has confirmed that he is staying with Swindon, How long will it be before it is announced that he has resigned for Somerset As far as I can see Nick would miss 8 meetings they are: April: 1 Away v Ipswich & 2 Home meetings v Plymouth & v Rye House May: 1 Away v Redcar June:1 Away v Plymouth July: 1 Home v Workington August: 1 Away v Sheffield & 1 Home v Rye House "IF" Nick were to return Somerset would be allowed a guest for these fixtures I think, rather than having to cover with r/r, as he would then be our No 1. oldtimer
Do you get a guest for under 21 meetings? I assume you are asking this because Brady would be missing a few meetings if he is in the under
Django
Do you get a guest for under 21 meetings? Worky didn't get a guest last year when Howarth was in the Under 21s, if it's a number 1 missing then you would
