Tai On The Bbc

Recommended Posts

Rather a pointless comment. But Tai Woffinden would look more impressive if he took a glance at how, for example, top flight F1 drivers present themselves off track. In a word - they are presentable.

Top flight F1 drivers?? Yawn.....................................

Speedway is an extreme sport marketed as, erm, well it's not really marketed is it? It needs to push that image of danger as really it's one of the few topline motorsports that hasn't become sterile over the years. Air fences excepted, it's still as risky as it was many moons ago. Unless we want to stick to the family sport "I say that's not on" way of doing things.

A lot og youngsters like tatts and piercings, take a look around. We need young blood attracted to speedway, like it or not.

There have always been tattoos. But it was usually associated with those of low intelligence - not those who one assume want to present themselves as personalities to be taken seriously in their chose field.

Now we're getting somewhere. It's 2013, the war's over, people are allowed to express themselves.

I agree. Because of his tattoos, David Beckham will never be a great sportsman, like all those World individual football champions such as....erm....erm.....help me out with a few names here Gus lad

No one has said David Beckham is not a great sportsman. All we are saying is that he is not an individual world champion and that turned to tattos in more recent times - as his superb football career draws to an end, Get a grip on the messages - who seem to have gone off course somewhere.

Just when is the world INDIVIDUAL football championship held? As I see it players may be members of a World Cup (championship) winning team but are only recognised for that fact not as being a personal world champion.

And the Tai Woffinden image is going to do that? Yuk!!! :nono:

I'm still waiting for you to help me out with the names of these untattooed people better than Beckham who have won this mysterious World Individual Football championship.

Can you list, say, the last 10 winners? Otherwise people might think you are posting complete and utter nonsense.

Gustix what exactly is your problem with Tai because at the moment you sound like a miserable old git. Tai does appeal to youngsters which is a very good thing because thats how speedway will survive not by appealing to 50-60-70 year olds. Speedway needs dragging into the modern day whether you like it or not.

Well said but lay off the 50's eh :t: For what it's worth I'm one of the converted where Tai's concerned, don't mind admitting I had him wrong, he's a dedicated young professional and deserves all the success that comes his way.

Not a fan of darts or tattoos personally, but I'd have thought Phil Taylor (a multiple individual world champion I think) presents himself as a personality to be taken seriously in his chosen field, and has tattoos - and is well known

Lay off the 60s mate, not all us wrinklies are like that. I'm no fan of body art or piercings but I am open minded enough to realise that they are todays fashions, in much the same way as mini skirts and kipper ties were in the 1960s altho they are far more permanent.

I think we have finally found out Gustix' prejudice. It really has nothing to do with Tai's charisma etc ....he just doesn't like tattoos. A view to which he is perfectly entitled, however I prefer to be open minded and not judge a book by his very decorative cover

I don't like Tai's Tattoos or his piercings - his ears make him look like 'Big Ears' out of Noddy. That said - those things are HIS business, NOT ours. The youngsters today seem to be 'in' to that kind of thing. Good luck to them - just not my cup of tea.

That said - he IS one hell of a Speedway Rider and THAT is why he is World Champion, nothing to do with the piercings or tattoos.

I was prepared not to like Tai because of the way he looked, however, I was wrong. He is a very personable young man who, if he carries on the way he has so far, will be a huge asset to our Sport for years to come hopefully.

I certainly hope that he wins the Championship again next year.

GOOD LUCK in the future Tai - you deserve it.

Sorry but thats well off the mark. I am surprised that a generalisation about those with tatts is made as well, I thought we had come further than that.

Okay so they aren't your thing, or possibly your generations thing either.

They are not my thing and I accept that possibly I am in a minority on that in my generation

For the younger generation however, no matter what you and I think, tatts are very much in vogue.

You and I sadly are no longer the future of speedway - the kids of today are. They wont judge on his tatts. Its quite common (and tbh its better than 'love' or 'hate' tattooed across the forehead!) And who knows if people of 40+ can listen and judge Tai on what he says rather than how he looks they might get a pleasant surprise too.

The lad has been a credit to his family the way he has dealt with the cards he has been dealt over the past few years and is still making every effort to publicise the sport, do his bit to be what he himself said was the duty of a world championship and make himself available to promote the sport in every way he can. Personally I think he should be encouraged and applauded for that rather than judged by what is basically his fashion sense by those of us who are past the 'young and trendy' age!

Time to bow out with what little grace you have left gustix, the ladies like Tai, tattoos or not. He's coming across a very decent young man, looking after his mum, thanking all his backers at every opportunity, bloody good luck to him I say.

He's not even been World Champion for a week and you seem to have a downer on him, I think you're on your own there old timer.

I don't like tatoos or the ear rings BUT I am 51 & my 19 old daughter thinks I was born in the stone age ,she also thinks tai is cute & cool. Mr woffinden despite my opinions on his appearance is the future of the sport I love & amen to that as this kid is box office. I couldn't care less if he had 2 heads & was green if he can make the media take notice then great. Well dome tai take a bow son.

I would like to 'look after' his mum! I am a bit worried about those ear decorations though, will he ever have normal lobes again if he ever removes them for good? Edited by Ray Stadia

Who cares Ray, he goes to work in a crash helmet, his ears are ruined for life anyway. In fact, it's crazy that his tattoos etc have become a negative talking point when he does his job covered from head to toe. It's not like he's Tom Daly and goes to work in speedos, is it ladies....

To be fair as tatoos go Tai's are pretty awful.

It's all about opinion - I happen to agree with you - BUT - his Tattoos, as I said earlier are nobody's business but his own Blazeaway.

Probably a lot of younger folk will think they are brilliant.

Bad job if we all thought the same thing about everything - wouldn't it?

Just what are you on about: it was you who first brought David Beckham into focus and made a claim in regard to him being a "world champion". If it was as you say me - I cannot see the Post where this was made.

To me your comments are rather like the old street organ - a wind up!
