Was a great night, we have some very passionate fans and the 'banter' was good last night and full respect for young Robert Lambert cause he did get the brunt of it for his actions at Monmore this season. But he didnt do anything untoward and was very gracious in defeat which is very good to see. I know we won and it was a very significant moment in the clubs history but some of our fans do take it a little to far and some people need to reign it in a little.

 

King Lynn were predicted by most to finish 5-6th and some very good signings by Allitt moved them onto being a great force. Great club Kings Lynn the track and stadia are supurb and they were well supported last night. Loved the LED screan at the back of turns 1 and 2 as it showed everything lap times winning times and results!

Congrats to the Heathens. Well deserved after last years heartache. Seems like it was a good sporting occasion last night, Young Stars deserve a lot of credit for the season they have had.

A brilliant night! 30 years we've waited for another League title and around 400 Heathens fans were there to enjoy it. Green white and red wherever you looked.

 

The team have been fantastic this year and Ashley's performance in both legs of the Final was superb but its a team game and everyone played their part. Congratulations to Will Pottinger too. He gives up so many hours and must be grinning from ear to ear today. Credit also to Simon, Paul and Andy who have done so much to make the Club one of the best supported in the country.

 

Thanks to Nigel, Gary and Chris for taking the chance on resurecting the Club in 2010. I never had any doubts that the fans would come back but a special word here for the 300 or so Heathens who turned up at Swindon for a four team tournament before it all got going again. Without that show of commitment there would have been no Club to support today.

 

It's a brilliant feeling. My grin is so wide my head's in danger of falling off!!

Oh sorry I didn't realise it was Just another meeting , I thought it was the Playoffs and both teams would want to field the best team they could to be in with a chance of winning the title , silly me , I suppose that's why not many watch national league, Might as well go to southern track free of charge as pay to watch training league

Shame that Simon (speedibee) feels it necessary to be so disingenuous - especially when young Bailey acquitted himself well and rode a sublime first and second bend in Heat 7 to lead Ashley Morris. That one move alone demonstrated to me that the lad has potential.

Genuine question, what options were open to Lynn once Hazeldean became unavailable?

The options are very limited. Because of the transfer deadline at the end of August a team can only use a 3 point unmatched rider. Josh was signed by the club for next season as an asset and we all felt although it would be difficult it was best to use josh. In fact he did very well against mildenhall and rode well in the two matches. The experience he has gained will serve him well and I feel it was still the right decision rather than using a 3.00 rider who had no attachment to our club.

100% he was brilliant last night, that lad was under so much pressure going into heat 7 on his own against a unbeaten Morris and very confortable rider in Clegg. He gated like a rocket and was clear down back stright but a little bit of inexperoance showed which caused him to fall with the pressure. Cannot fault the lad he was very good at Monmore and for such a young kid the more track time he has the better he will be!

May I firstly offer my own personal congratulations to all i.e. riders, management, supporters et al of the Heathens on their success and know full well of just how all of them must be feeling right now, having been at the helm (thanks Waggy!) of the Oxford Silver Machine Academy that finished winners of the 2005 Conference League.

Whether or not this proves a significant step towards them as a club stepping back up to operate and race in what might be 'higher' level remains to be seen - I personally hope so as I've really missed the roast pork sarnies!

 

Meanwhile I'd like to offer my commiserations to Dale Allitt and all involved with the Young Stars for their disappointment but hey, hopefully, there's next year to go one better as I know just how much effort behind the scenes at ALL clubs is put in.

A fully blown 'third division' as such behind, as things stand, the Elite and Premier leagues? Or, as the now renamed Conference league was set up, primarily a league to help young British riders (with one or two 'more experienced riders per team, whatever the limit is set at) make as rapid progress as possible towards achieving success ultimately in the sport the've chosen to pursue by providing more competitive outings, getting them accustomed to team ideology in a league environment at the same time? Would be eager to hear your own view (and that of others) on that point prior, perhaps, to responding further primarily giving my further personal (yes mine they are and mine only) views on the problems / advantages of all NL clubs currently operating.

 

Finally, would have loved to be at the Norfolk Arena on Wednesday myself but, alas, not fit enough yet especially having been taken by two fabulous friends using a hired wheelchair to assist, to the IOW the day before.

I have to say, regardless the NL will be just like the Elite and Premier Leagues. Fully competitive and all wanting to win. There are far too many stand alone clubs at NL level to be just a development league. Those clubs want to win and that was shown by the large traveling Dudley fans.

 

Only from a Coventry and King's Lynn perspective can this league be seen as development

It was the correct call, within the regulations, invaluable experience gained which will stand him in good stead in the future, and may i add he did not let anyone down, sometimes its not always about the points gained, ask anyone who was at The Norfolk Arena last night, if he had let The Young Stars down, and i will bet any money everyone will say NO, indeed he led Ashley Morris not only in the original running of Ht 7, but also in the rerun, This lad has potential everyone saw it last night.

 

The meeting itself, Firstly the support from The Heathens fans, was out of this World, hundreds of them made the long trip over to see History made on a Bitterley Cold Autumn (except for Wayne who took his shirt off lol) evening, with a fair number of Young Stars fans their to see if they could lift the Trophy, there was good natured banter between the fans, and Boisterous comments, and good natured booing directed towards the riders lol, whilst there was i think an odd cheer when riders fell, ALWAYS there was applause when said rider got to his feet, and returned to the pits, this on every occasion, The atmosphere was tremendous.

For the Young Stars they were led admirably by Robert Lambert, Darren Mallett, and Lewis Rose, with solid support from Lewis Kerr, who did have machine issues, which really cost him and Young Stars, this meeting and possibly The Final, another 5 for Lewis and 5 off The Heathens this would have been mighty close, before i move on a word about this young man. Before the season started he was a run of the mill NL 2nd string, as the season has progressed he has improved beyond recognition, to become a Top Heat Leader, he represents His team as captain without fault, he is a fine, fair racer and Sportsman, always congratulating whoever is lucky enough to beat him, so to you Lewis Kerr i say bad luck that you had those machine issues, which i think ulitmately cost your Team, but you should be proud of your achievements this season, respect to you, and your team

 

On to my beloved Heathens, we have since our return strived to achieve The winning of the NL Grand Final ultimately on a few occasions falling at the final Hurdle, including last year when the feeling of diisapointment was hard to contain, when we lost by 1 point in the final race to a somewhat controversial refereeing decision, when our Captain Royno fell, and received a serious injury. The wait was finally ended last night, so the enjoyment that was shared and shown by Heathens fans and riders alike was all the more satisfying. The riders were all up for this, and all played their part in this meeting and the success, if i had to pick a rider out for praise over the 2 legs, it would have to be super skip, Ashley Morris with his never say die attitude. Thanks to the management who gave us this Team, to support, subsidised the coaches, and HSSC who organised it all. We have one Final objective to achieve hopefully against Mildenhall, against whom, we need to lay a ghost to rest, once and for all.

 

Thanks to everyone at The Norfolk arena, especially manager Dale Allitt, who was generous in his praise, though we can understand his disappointment, your turn will come Dale, if you can hold the majority of this Team together.

It was GREAT hearing the support the Dudley fans were giving their riders and the response back from them! Takes me back to our PL days at Rye House and these days at Peterborough ha

 

Just hope you get a stadium of your own back one of these days!!!

 

I knew the guy who nearly got run down was a VIP as he was carrying the trophy, he should know better!!! The BSPA certainly need to come up with a new rule to stop people walking across the track when riders are celebrating, Peter's near miss was not the first at Lynn this season!

This Thread is really about the Nl playoff final , and the general question of personal opinion on what is the national league , which i would be happy to answer , should really be on a thread of its own ,

I can well an truley say that every single Heathens rider has developed this season...

 

You look at Max Clegg and what he has acheived, Nathan has come on and yes has struggled at home but away on big tracks he has scored big.

 

Starkey has gone from 5.70 average to 9.00 and is now riding premier league speedway and now looks to good to ride in this league for next year!

 

We are developing riders, Roynon has come through NL, Tai rode in the old conference league and many others have...Barker Auty.

 

The league is great, great racing that beats most of the EL some of the time but isnt it a competive league what they need hwo will they develop if its not a competition!
