stevebrum
Read your post, and Brian Bucks. I understand both, but you surely must see mine and other poole fans side of the issue? Scots playing Bagpipes, but you can't use airhorns,, Barmey. The problem with some of your fellow Poole respondents is `so what`. Whether it is right or wrong is very much open to question, however it remains the fact that air horns aren't allowed to be used and if asked not to use should act accordingly and not say `sore losers`.
Pirio Barre
. The music was done and played by Chris Simpson who is the usual Birmingham centregreen presenter A friend of mine who is not a speedway fan but lives in a part of Perry Barr were they objected a lot about the noise. Said to me a few weeks ago that they don’t really hear the bikes racing much “it’s the d!ck on the microphone they can hear” which is rather odd as there are parts of the stadium (4th bend) were you can't hear anything from him, By the way what happened to the trees that were supposed to be planting along the river bank to cushion the noise? I paid £60 for 3 trees did they ever grow? Edited October 18, 2013 by Pirio Barre
david2905
As a matter of interest, when they have rock concerts etc at Villa Park, which is close to Perry Barr and also a residential area ( apart from the Trinity Road, Aston Park side ) - do they have the concerts in the day time to stop any complaints? Bon Jovi had a gig in June 2013 and they must have been a lot louder than some air horns!? One rule for one and one for another there (where have I heard that before ?), no council would have the bottle to threaten closing a premier league ground whereas they can bully a little speedway club, that and Villa would argue they've been there since 19XX ?. Read your post, and Brian Bucks. I understand both, but you surely must see mine and other poole fans side of the issue? Scots playing Bagpipes, but you can't use airhorns,, Barmey. You seem to be under the impression we don't find the rule farcical, we do as much as you do, but it doesn't mean we can disobey it, I think it's farcical to do 40MPh through roadworks at 3am when no one's working, does that mean I can do 70MPH ?. Quiet as a mouse!! Sounds to me as though the council have an issue with Speedway, but for some reason couldn't stop them running the sport at Perry Barr.. You could say that, some ran of out reasons to prevent us running.

Villa Park opened in 1897 speedway at the current Perry Barr venue started in 1929. The problem Birmingham speedway has, is that it in 2006 they agreeing to regulations that are not controllable. I was under the impression that meetings should end by 10 pm, the semi final went on way past 10pm, Also I believed only certain days of the week could be designated as race nights I don’t remember Tuesday every being one of those days. Hopefully the fact that the plays off’'s contiuned after 10pm and then on a Tuesday shows there is some flexibility in the regulations and the council are happy to play along. So a few air horns in what was the grand finale isn’t going to cause a major issue. Edited October 18, 2013 by Pirio Barre
Brummie Kev
'Brummies boss 'sorry' for song'!! www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport Birmingham Promoter Graham Drury slams the 'absolutely pathetic and unjustified' playing of Money Money Money during Pirates title celebrations. So when is Matt Ford going to respond by apologising in our local paper about some poole fans disregard for planning regulations on air horn use at perry barr, and giving abuse to club officals when asked to stop using them? solrac19
He was in the crowd talking to the fans, signing autographs, and so on. A master-stroke by whoever thought of that! However, I expect that those of the Poole fans who swore at the officials asking them to stop using air horns were offended. Too bad. The officials should have removed their air horns or offered to file them in a suitable orifice...
Pirio Barre
couldn't let this pass 26 years. That's why. That's how long we were without speedway in Birmingham. 26 years real? Birmingham closed in 1986 and reopened in 2007 that’s 21 years where have you been for the past 5 years? or are you related to "Brian (the saviour, but never turned up at many meetings back in the day) Buck" # bordesley lives on Edited October 19, 2013 by Pirio Barre
AFCB Wildcat
So when is Matt Ford going to respond by apologising in our local paper about some poole fans disregard for planning regulations on air horn use at perry barr, and giving abuse to club officals when asked to stop using them? Maybe not like for like situations as the guilty fans were not directly representing the club but I agree that if not an apology a statement by Matt Ford condemning the actions of these fans wouldn't go amiss. All speedway clubs near residential areas are on thin ice with local authorities and I for one am very disappointed that some supposed Speedway fans took this stance in the circumstances. Unfortunately a lot of sports clubs have a minority of idiot supporters, usually glory hunters rather than true fans and it's a shame that the decent fans get tarred with the same brush. I wasn't there but if the rules and reason regarding the air horn ban were politely explained then as far as I'm concerned the continued use of them was arrogant and inexcusable.
Moorski
Going forward, Stewards have a right to look inside spectators carrier bags etc.Having a couple of stewards outside the turnstile doing this is a simple solution, anyone therefore carrying air horns are not admitted to the stadium unless they leave the air horns in their vehicle or a collection point until after the meeting. This problem is unlikely to happen very often as most supporters respect the request to not use them, our biggest rivals Wolves & Coventry bring many supporters but they do not use air horns even though they would probably like to do so. Hopefully this is a one off and when the Brummies get into another Final lessons have been learned. Anyway the better team won over two legs but the Brummies for me have had an outstanding season, Well done lads.

So when are the nimbie council going to overturn this stupid ruling that nobody can use Airhorns in a town centre stadium where there's as much noise in that area as in the centre of London?? As I said, somebody at the council doesn't like nor want Speedway, but had no choice but to let speedway run at Perry Barr, so threw his/her toys out the pram and made restrictions.. Tell me im wrong... because I would be very confident of being right..

Perry Barr isn't in the town centre, and you do the moaning residents a disservice if you think that they threw their toys out the pram. Perry Barr is right in the centre of a University and residential area, so i would you would be very wrong. Indeed it is crazy that it is has been reported the sound of the tannoy is the most annoying thing, but you can sure the moaners will be the first to complain if the banned air horns are suddenly allowed. If you know the history of the lengths the residents have gone to to make complaints you wouldn't take the use of air horns so lightly. Rubbish Steve, there's more noise than that in that area, what with Ambulances police cars on blue lights Fire engines and continuous heavy traffic. Now, im very sure all that would drown out any Airhorns... nah just, tipical snotty nosed councillors. I was saying at poole how quiet a full grandstand is, even with all the shouting and screaming without Airhorns, But you wouldn't know much about that at Wolverhapton, would you.. At least we can use them....

But by trying to dismissing using police cars and fire engines as an example just goes to show how blinkered some of your lot really are. We know you can use air horns at Poole, the rest of the league and country doesn't count or matter to your lot. Perfectly exampled by your own promotion.
