Bruiser McHuge
I like Hawksbee and Jacobs and they are far from neantherthals...especially Paul Hawksbee when i started going to speedway in the 70's all my mates at school said it was first out of the gate wins....30 odd years later and people still say that so it's no big deal my book...people have that opinion. The fact is that a lot of speedway is first out the gate wins..that's a fact...even riders when interviewed go on about how they need to make starts....my eldest lad won't watch speedway with me on TV because he says it's boring and the gater wins so you will never change attitudes....ironically he loves F1 and MotoGP though.. First out of the Gate usually wins in Formula 1 too. He won't watch Speedway because of that. VERY odd. Talking about BORING - you can't beat Formula One for that. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

TheReturn
Anybody hear Hawksbee and Jacobs comments on Speedway today on Talksport? They were saying how Speedway is all from the start with no overtaking. They said how whoever gets out from the start first finishes first, the second person remains second and so on. I was so cross about this I have emailed TalkSport and I await their response. Maybe a few more complaints will make them rethink their flippant comments. However this is what i emailed them: They are more or less right. Lets not forget Pearson calls the race on the back straight 'If it stays like this it will be a 5-1' blah, blah. Marcelle
H and J is a good show, its usually Andy Jacobs who says first to bend 1 wins, and I'm afraid thats what seems to happen in a lot of meetings, many a time I've watched an Elite league meeting and remarked that any casual watchers will have switched off because of the boring nature of the "racing"....So called racing. jimmy jimmy
So a couple of small time radio presenters don't like speedway, big deal. Won't put anyone off going.
Brian
Watched European Rallycross on telly at the weekend. Same issue, mostly first to bend 1 wins. They also have this Mickey Mouse thing where every car has to take a different section on 1 of the 6 laps although not sure why. That was boring until a few decided to play dodgems and knock the the car in front into a spin.

Ray Stadia
No - but the image they present of our Sport WILL!!! I don't think it will matter TWK, Talk Sport is really 'Talk Football'. They really only give a small glance to other sports.

Fair point Orion, maybe F1 has leadership and direction and Speedway has the BSPA....However I've seen more Follow your leader meetings at Owlerton since they decided to make the track slick, there used to be loads more passing and I'm only talking a few years ago.... Not saying your wrong but I think we are all guilty of looking back at the past and thinking it was better ....to me with speedway the racing is much the same but the feel is not the same as the crowds have lost there desire and passion . Yes, when you needed special engines, won by massive scores every meeting and even home fans were starting to complain about the lack of opposition. League positions were decided on points gained, instead of aggregate scores, and that affected Sheffield and Exeter the most, hence the change in the track to get more competitive meetings. T.N.T.
I have talk sport on in the van and have to say that I like the HJ Show and did hear Andy Jacobs's line. I text them in and have since sent them an email ...... let's see if they take me up on the offer !! The problem with Talk Sport and many other Sports related TV and Radio shows is that 80% of it is always about football and that is unlikely to ever change. Let's face it every National newspaper very rarely features any other sport on it's back page !
