Coventry V Leicester (home & Away) 20&25th Oct

Recommended Posts

arrived to the dulcet tones of a cod 80s DJ, left to the dulcet tones of Chris Sully's karaoke singing wife and that was about the level of the low rent entertainment on offer all night. If Speedway in Leicester survives next year with the current owners, promoters and track it'll be a miracle of red sea proportions. It may be a Leicester problem, it may be a speedway in general problem but it's not worth the money plain and simple.

did anyone hear any mention of how they were going to make up the shortfall for season tickets holders who haven't had anywhere near the value of their outlay?

BTW i think the meeting ended Leicester 11 Coventry 8

i sent magnus a pm on facebook and asked him why he was not riding tonight and he said he had not been asked so read into that what you like as for lasse i dont have a clue but i gather they both are not on the hemsley's christmas card list.

sounds more like it Neb.

I would love to see who is on David Hemsley's christmas card list and compare it to last years

Dave Hemsley XMAS CARD LIST

Volty, normally I agree with most the things you post about the track & promotion, but don't agree with you about tonight. I thought it was a decent meeting. The amount of passing & close racing tonight was similar to what you see at a lot of other tracks, which isn't often the case. Don't know if it was the class of riders of racing conditions but was one of the better meetings this season.

If tonight's amount if passing & close racing was the average for BP I would be happy with that.

I know it wasn't a proper Leicester team, but I give the promotion credit for getting the riders they did rather than just have another fixture like the BV one.

What a great nights speedwy. The Lions have come out on top after the first Leg with a wining margin of 57 to 37. Kaperzak had 5 wins and must say from the talk at track side it looks very much like the Lions will be in the Elite league next year.

From the talk it looks that if this happes that Kapersak and Kenneth Hanson could be riding for Leiceter in 2014. So far it is just speculation

But from the way they spoke it souned quite a done thing. Even with the rain we had the last couple of days the racing still went ahead, with thanks going to the track team who had been working for the past couple of days getting the track in shape. This morning they had to take off tons of top shale and replace it, so our thanks should go out to them for all their hard work and also to the promotion team, who made a great job of getting a great competative squad together.

Will have to wait till Friday now to see how the BEEs get on at their home track, if the teams stay the same then I can see the Lions pulling off a great win.

I'm probably not the best person to give my views on the racing because I found the match boring and one sided but it just seems as if you need a team of gaters at Beaumont Park and that's it. (K.K. will get on well there if he signs for Leicester next season - well probably for a few months anyway.) I've no idea what the averages totted up to for the respective teams but Coventry were at a disadvantage before a wheel was turned by trying to just use their own assets whereas Leicester had several higher averaged riders. If it is the same teams they'll no doubt win at Brandon on Friday as well.

Spotted a lovely Dalmation dog and wondered how on earth the owner managed to smuggle that in but he said he just walked in with it. I'll have to try that.

Just one more thing - Mick get Hansen signed up quick or Lions will beat you to it.

To be fair it wasn't fantastic, certainly not the worst meeting I've ever seen or the best. One thing is for sure BP is a very difficult track to pass on once you make the gate you are pretty much home and dry baring falling off or your bike blowing up. It did have an end of season feel about it with riders pretty much going through the motions. But hay oh that's Speedway I guess.

cheers dave (gotta say it's a smart move to do your own PR rather than pay for it!)

Not the best meeting Ive seen this season, but not bad, Lions outclassed the bees, Hansen looking good again.

They got on with it as well, finished just before 8pm.

Cant see the bees picking up the trophy.

Kenneth Hansen did look very good. No denying. He was very exiting but he still didn't really overtake anyone. nobody did. Andersen spent 3 1/2 laps overtaking an all over the place ryan fisher and a couple of other riders drifted out into nowhere land and were then taken down the back straight drag (I think Hansen may have even done that a couple of times). FFS what are the levels you all wished to be entertained at as i didn't see any entertainment at all tonight. If Fisher was making the errors he made tonight at any other track in the UK Andersen would have passed him in one lap, not 4. If Fisher had rode like that at Perry Bar he would have retired at the back after 1 lap, not spent 3 laps being still being in front before passed and retiring on lap 4. That race wasnt a battle of skill, just a battle of artrition and that's where were at at BP...

I think Hansen will ride for a team in the PL full time next season, with a possible doubling up role,as for Kasprzak, giving his performances for Coventry this season Leicester would be mad to even consider him IMO.

He has said he would like a EL place next year. Rumours there will be one big league next year anyway

Another away drubbing for Bees.. No change there. In fact with the recent recess I'd forgotten just how bad they can be.

Onto the racing then - and that was one boring meeting, with one, maybe two overtakes all night. Notwithstanding the diligent track work put in to make the meeting happen at all, it was the first time I'd been back since opening night and I realised I'd probably not missed much. It's shame as with the banking and size it could be one hell of a track if they could only crack how to give riders the ability to pass. Certainly a full throttle track which reminded me of Kings Lynn or Halifax a little .. But without the entertainment. Given that they started with a blank canvass in a new stadium, it's odd how they've ended up with a boring track, but hats off to the promotion on most other aspects. And the home fans seem passionate about their speedway too which is good to see.

I think you're being a bit harsh on them due to the team put out by Leicester. Although I agree Bees have been bad this season I think that Lions team would have easily beaten Poole and been champions. We just knew K.K. would win all his races because it's his sort of gater's track and he has practised there many times, also that Zengota would struggle. I had hoped Scott would do better but a fall and engine failure in his first two rides put paid to that idea. Of the others Ryan, Ben and Aaron performed as I expected as they are not renowned for their good starts, plus couldn't expect any more from James as he is a National League rider. Iversen did well but even he fell on the notorious 3rd/4th bend.

If it is the same teams no way will the Bees make up that amount of points - in fact they'll no doubt lose again.

Please can we have Hansen in our team to give us a chance of at least winning the return match?
