Coventry V Leicester (home & Away) 20&25th Oct

Alex is not the quickest of riders but his strength is that he is difficult to pass,

Don't disagree about Edberg but it shouldn't matter how difficult you are to pass if someone is that much quicker. Cook was 2-4 seconds a race quicker than the other race winners and in the previous race with Cook out in front they were not even on the same corners or straights at the same time.

I think that in that race if memory serves me right, Cook was trying all he could to stay behind Edberg to give Edinburgh a TR opportunity. It was case of who could go slowest and Edberg won just.

Not how it looked to me i have to admit but who knows, you may be right. So you are saying that even though Cook was capable of winning all his other races by the length of the straight he made a decision, when 6 points behind, to stay at the back so the team could go into the next race 10 points behind and use pijper as a tactical to try and maybe gain an extra 3 points as a double even though pijper hadn't previously won a race, rather than try to overtake the riders in front of him, as you would rightly expect someone so quick to do with ease. If that was true then that's an even more condemning indictment of the track than my theory that he was just struggling to finding a way past. And why did he pass him?? jeez.

if what you say is correct volty that cook was 2-4 seconds a race quicker than the other race winners (and i dont dispute what you say) does that not raise a question or two? it seems an awful lot to win any race by that big a margin and i am not suggesting that cookie is doing anything untoward and i do appreciate he is on fire at the moment but to finish that far in front of our best riders does seem a bit odd,is he that good?

Just point out that I was talking about Cooks last visit to BP, which was the BV meeting. not the Edinburgh match.

my bad, didn't go to the BV meeting. forgot, he was the belle vue rider who actually rode wasn't he :t:

It was certainly raising some questions by our little crowd on the night but who knows. I think i remember him pulling a big locker in one race that he still won in mega quick track record time. On the topic of track records why do tracks record race times to a hundredth of a second when most, if not all, clearly do not have equipment to do this? Every time i get given a time to this degree of accuracy it makes me cringe (that's exaggeration for the point made mind) and i still can't bring myself to get with the times and write the time given in the programme so ignore writing the past the tenth.

Rain due at 10.30 this morning hopefully it will hold out till 2!

Is it actually dry at Coventry woz01 or have you had rain. I live in deepest Norfolk, and don't want a wasted journey if I can afford it. It's absolutely pouring here, and has been since yesterday afternoon without a break.
