Fromafar
But is he fit, anyway? Heard something about a moto-x crash?I heard the same rumour at the end of last season, but if it was anything serious you think it would be out by now.Interesting that he did not ride in Aus in the winter though. Phil The Ace
*BREAKING* Â Kozza Smith refused visa
screm
Speedway365 understands that Redcar Bears new winter signing Kozza Smith has been refused a visa to come and race in the UK in 2014. The Australian had agreed a winter move from Berwick to Redcar but the switch has been blocked by the authorities. Smith missed the 2012 season through injury but returned to British Speedway last season with Berwick, and Kings Lynn in the Elite League. Australian team manager Mark Lemon has been working closely with the BSPA in recent weeks to ensure riders are allowed enter the UK on a tier 5 working visa. Up to seven riders have ran into troubles this winter and Tyson Nelson and Alex Davies have been refused visas. It’s a hammer blow to Redcar’s team building plans, Smith had been one of their big signings this winter as they looked to reach the play-offs for the second season running. boz
Massive blow for us - I loved watching Kozza ride at Redcar last season and was delighted when we signed him - a real entertainer. I'm clinging to the hope there has been some crossed wires somewhere!

As Smith isn't doubling up for anyone I cant see why he cant apply for a Tier3 visa (think that's what its called), Doyle has and others so why not Smith. The tier 5 criteria appear to rule out it being used for a PL rider as its wording includes (to paraphrase) 'being established at the highest level'

So Redcar wont be the only team looking for an new rider or two.

highside
Andrew Tully ? Edited February 18, 2014 by highside
screm
Andrew Tully ? Â Thought Tully was taking a year away from racing though if the offers right that decision could be changed I suppose.
RedcarRacer
If we signed Tully to replace Smith - one of the few glimmers of hope - then God help us. Â Lawson and Smith are the real reasons for excitement for Redcar this year, given we have carried on with duck eggs like Wilkinson. Â Still the management cant be blamed for Smith and the current issues, but hopefully if they do need a new rider we take a bit of gamble on someone, and not a bang average performer like Tully. Â Feel so sorry for Kozza, would have been brilliant for Redcar and could easily have seen him becoming our captain this year.

Kozza is hardly a world beater and has a lower average than Tully does he not??
