Redcar Bears 2014.

Kozza told me at the start of last season after the Mason Campton situation that Berwick had taken out a 2 year Visa for him so he would be safe for two years, maybe if he had accepted Berwick's offer for this year he would still be riding in the UK in 2014. I'm sure i read somwhere that Alex Davies was in the same situation but because they have changed clubs, certain parts of the criteria can not be transferred to another club

Footballers have to apply for new work permits too so you would presume that is the case for all sportsmen. Still a shame as Kozza he would have been a very popular rider - and unlike most of our team capable of adding to his average.

Probably the Sponsor Certificate is unique to one club and cannot be used at another?

I'm sure that Mason Campton moving from Glasgow to Workington was part of the the problem he had last year. I think the BSPa should have an expert to deal with all the applications instead of clubs having to do it themselves, Kozza's good to watch, shame he's not going to be here.

Shame about Kozza after all the seasons he has raced here with no problems, a good man to have in your team both on and off the track. Who are Redcars options now or will they start the season with R/R?

Certainly can't use r/r for a rider who has never raced for you and who isn't going to be available anyway. Exceptions granted in the past were for riders returning to their last season's club who had been injured pre-season.

Feel sorry for ALL Riders who have been denied Visas.

It appears we can let ANYBODY in to this Country apart from Speedway Riders.

I've had an idea- why don't they wear Burkhas - they would probably be OK then.:mad:

Why should the BSPA have an expert to deal with the visa's ?

Thought it was down to the clubs to apply for these. ?

Surely if each club applied in time or getting a 3 year visa these problems wouldn't happen as often.

When it happened last year to Sam and mason , you would think clubs would have been aware of the problems ?

See I don't, clubs should've done enough back ground checks and waited till everything is confirmed before announcing any signings. This oh I thought everything was ok just isn't thorough enough.

But THAT is down to the Clubs. It's the Lads themselves I feel sorry for.

Whilst generally I do agree with you, Screm, you also get some supporters whinging on here (as if!) about a lack of news in some cases.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't...

Promoters come from all walks of life, eg ex riders and aren't experts in legal matters, I'm sure the BSPA could afford to use an immigration specialists skills for a couple of months or so to make sure everything was in order or to advise whether a visa was likely or not. Disappointing for riders and fans too when when they're turned down at this late stage.

I do believe it's down to the clubs, but also think riders should play a part in making sure these are in place .

After all it is there liveyhood ?

Agree they are meant to be professional sportsman so if they are changing clubs ect they should make sure there are no obstructions or rule changes regarding things like visas. It does seem a bit harsh but if that is the ruling tough.
