justathought
Nice to follow a team that keeps supporters up to date with all the latest happenings at the club. With instant information posted on the team website the moment it happens. Just look at that team the Berwick Bandits, they have a news letter that supporters can subscribe to, for free, which is sent out in an email to arrive in your in box once a week. It tells fans all the latest comings and goings, whats going off team wise and even if meetings are on or off. What a daft idea................who the hell thought that would catch on. Just had another crazy idea. Perhaps advertising could be sold on it to help with the cost..........Naaaaaaa maybe not. Big Al
From the reports I have heard Paddy has decided that he picks up too many injuries in the UK and wants to concentrate on Denmark and Poland with his Polish club asking him to be out there on Saturdays to practice which obviously clashes with Leicester. So Leicester are back to looking for two riders It's sounding like the Polish clubs have become more demanding this season, with their non-Polish riders - along the lines of "if you don't turn up to Saturday practice you'll be lucky to get in the team on Sunday". I heard that Chris Harris was omitted from his team the other weekend, even after he did show up for the Saturday practice, and of course most Polish teams can operate this way as they have a squad system. I know they do this with their Polish riders, maybe they're playing hardball more and almost forcing riders to be there on Saturdays? It doesn't bode very well for the likes of Leicester and Eastbourne in terms of being able to sign and retain riders, does it? It was fairly obvious (to me, anyway!) right from the outset, that Leicester would encounter these difficulties in the EL, and I now start to wonder about what Mads' future is? Crazy robin
Serves Leicester right, You wanted Elite League. You have it. Thanks for letting us into the PL. Doesn't matter what name you use as you still post a load of rubbish anyway

It would be nice, but as there isn't an E.L. fixture until the 24th I would imagine desperate measures have been going on behind the scenes to try to get two replacements before the next meeting. Can't be easy.
TMW
I see. That'll be why he was in the team for the friendly return at Peterborough. He was in the country at the time for the testomonial staying with the Atwoods
Cliffeboy
Wow if he's got away without a break it's a miracle!! Awful accident! Truly scary moment for Doyley, especially with the way his head hit the deck,I must say I feared the worst. Good to see it is not bad as first feared, still quite horrific pictures of his leg wounds on twitter. Get well soon mate.

Having said that the promotion were fairly quick in response to Jason's crash but why on earth do they leave us to rely on the rumours and hearsay and so called insider knowledge on this web site to find out what's happening with the club that we support? For example in last week's Speedway Star the Team Manager was reported as saying that Peter Ljung was unlikely to return (nothing on the web site!). And we read on here that Paddy is also likely not to come back. Why don't the club tell us what's going on - even if they just say that A & B are not coming back, we are hoping to sign two new riders in time for the meeting at Swindon on the 22nd. If we can't get them signed in time we will use guests/RR. Surely they can also tell us who they have ruled out and the reasons e.g. we can only sign one more doubling up rider, rider X has a lot of Saturday commitments etc. etc. I live in hope!
Gemini
Next fixture is away to Swindon on 22nd May. Okay fair enough - I didn't look at away fixtures. Regarding promoters not telling fans what's going on I'm afraid that's what usually happens so I didn't expect Leicester to be any different. Teromaafan
If Ljung and Hougaard have jumped ship as we are led to believe and for the reasons we suspect, what exactly did they 'sign' when they signed for the Lions? In defence of riders, they will remind us that their employment can be terminated at very short notice should the management decide. If contracts are as open ended as they seem to be the sport will continue to struggle to be taken seriously. After taking nearly a 30 year hiatus from the sport (following the Lions demise in the early 80s) it has not taken me long to realise that there simply aren't enough riders to go round and the doubling and trebling up of riders across the continent does not appear to be sustainable. Big Al
Delusions of grandeur, control-freakery, or just plain old lack of competence? I think it's a fear of dispensing news that will create a negative image. But they have to come clean at some point!! Maybe they have hopes of changing Paddy's mind. But he wasn't exactly scoring heavily, was he?? Agree that Berwick are exceptionally good at being open and honest with their supporters (I think Edinburgh are pretty good, too), but they seem to be in a minority. SteveLyric2
What exactly are the management supposed to say? 'Ljung and Hougaard are no longer with us, and we don't yet know who will replace them'?!

Caught between rock and a hard place though.... If a rider doesn't want to continue riding for a team, he would simply not perform for 2-3 matches, and get booted out, on a lower average and go and ride for the team he wanted to ride for... It's a real difficult position.. Because there is a lack of quality riders around the UK Speedway scene, riders are not usually out of work for long unless they are on a high average and don't fit in Team averages, however, if the rider is in a particular low average, wether or not it's a false/manipulated one, they are in demand because it frees-up points to enable teams to bring in the best riders available... 'Ljung and Hougaard are no longer with us, and we don't yet know who will replace them'?! It's not the Ljung/Hougard thing particularly. Just a general lack of any information to come out of BP really. People do obviously know about these things, and usually post them on here. And yes, it would be nice for Leicester to acknowledge the fact that the two riders have gone or not.
Shale Searcher
Peterborough last week cancelled a meeting only a few hours before tapes up, eventually blaming a H & S issue, no more info has since appeared or if the issue has been sorted, lots of unhappy Panther and rightly so Monarchs fans as quite a few had travelled/booked hotels.... It's a generic problem in the sport...... Club info always cloaked, secret, etc..

Again, it's a "my friend says" not a statement from the Promoter!! Speedway survives on hearsay, speculation, Chinese whispers or silence... Guest GiveusaB
The Elite League has become a total shambles this season! I feel for Leicester ! Didnt think any other team would suffer as much as we have so far, but I could be wrong?

Peterborough have always had a volatile relationship with their landlords at the showground , so maybe the speedway promotion preferred not to rock the boat by publicly blaming them for something that was outside the control of both parties , The Elite League has become a total shambles this season! I feel for Leicester ! Didnt think any other team would suffer as much as we have so far, but I could be wrong? The Elite league was a total shambles when Leicester joined it , they were warned but allowed ego to get in the way of common sense , they have only themselves to blame for the situation they find themselves in .
