Astill lodge lion
Just noticed on the Max Clegg practise video on the Facebook site that the 2 hospitality boxes have been taken down. Pretty certain they were up all last winter & they were there Nov/Dec this winter. So it seems they are not hiring them or getting them free off a sponsor this year. weatherwatcher
I think the worlds worst job at the moment must be. Team UK team manager. Poor old Alan Rossiter has very little to work with. What went wrong. Once we had a team to beat the world now we can hardly even beat a cake. It is time that more was done for our young speedway riders. You only have to look at the Great Britain proffetionals, all of them being paid to do it. We have a team of young boxers to be proud of. It is time the BPSA, started to help them in any way they can. Get them together, A couple of days a week with the worlds top riders, to train and teach them. Other wise we are always going to be a team of second rans. If more effort was put in with these young lads the team GB would be up there with the best, in a few years time. At the moment, it has got to be the hardest job asked of anyone to make the team GB look liike what they are ment to be a world beating team. It is now time to put the Great back into Britain. And it is only those who look after the interest of our young riders that can do anything about it. You will learn very little in the MDL or Nl if they are left to just, race against each other week in week out. They need help to get us back to become, what we where years ago a Brithish team, that we where proud of. Let us hope that what they are trying to do this year with the 2 reserves, helps to bring some results, but I still think that much more need to be done. barrow boy
My gut feeling is that the teams will be evenenly matched with a few Leicester riders in the rest of the world team. Let's also not forget that Cookie is the fastest man around Beaumont Park. Only Lions representative in this fixture is Patrick Hougaard. Brummie Boy
IMO the ROTW team look very weak for this fixture. Why no Mads? Would have been a better option than Risager. You could take Tai out of the GB team and I would still expect them to beat the ROTW.

Shirl
How was the meeting yesterday? Glorious day to watch speedway,I arrived at the stadium at 1.40 after parking,it was really busy which was great in support of the Ben Fund but the queue for admission was horrendous only the two little windows open to take money which is ridiculous.Apparently the start time was put back to let everyone in but had a prior engagement at 4.30 so went home. By the look of the scoring Cooky and Morris had good days. How was the racing?

Shirl
Thanks Big Al and Gemini. I'm new to this posting lark and thought it was quiet on the Leicester thread and not realising it had its own. Must be the sun stroke I endured yesterday. Having looked on it same old same old then. Pleased to hear that most peopled enjoyed there day considering we've got a 'crap track and 'crap promotion'
EnglishRoundabout
Can you believe these people??? Mind you, not surprising is it. Leicester Ci ty were top of the league recently by a significant margin and the fans were booing the team!! Perhaps you guys should consider the anxiety that fans from Reading, Newport, Halifax, Bradford, Wimbledon, Oxford, Hackney and numerous others have suffered in recent times. Why bother going if all you do is moan? The racing at Swindon is at times fairly bland, but that's the nature of the sport. Unless you are lucky to be regulars at brilliant tracks like Kings Lynn, Peterborough, Somerset, Scunthorpe and Sheffield, then you have to accept that speedway in general produces one or two good races per meeting. Support your local track.

A purpose built track sadly not fit for purpose.

Support your local track. Kind of see where your coming from but peeps need to be entertained. One or two good races per meeting is not entertaining - we need more than that. Not logical to keep paying your entrance fee just to support your local track, it must be exciting. It's all too slick (there are a few exceptions), consistent track preperation and plenty of dirt / grip would create better racing. That's the only way to retain / attract punters.
