Leicester 2014 . Elite

Recommended Posts

Rumour has it that DH is talking to Craig Cook. That could be a fantastic signing with him being a Beaumont Park specialist.

DH is probably "talking to" a great many riders at the moment! I hope he has a good phone deal, because he will need it. And Craig Cook is also probably talking to many promoters, in the UK, Sweden, and Poland.

Except when he doesn't gate when, like every else, all he demonstrates is how hard it is to pass even the slowest of riders around B

Wrong - He has made many passes around BP - noy just a few and many times heat leaders of the Lions. as Steve 9 correctly says CC lets the speed run through the bends instead of scrubbing it off (even bend 3) something I think we will see more of now that Elite league riders will be racing at Leicester.

No disrepect but you're just making it up 1 valve. Although i didn't get to the 'belle vue' meeting (though i'm reliably told that it didn't have enough passes all meeting to alter the facts on this subject) there is absolutely no basis in fact with what you say. I've seen him at every other meeting at Leicester this year and he has invariably either gated in front and won by half a straight or usually more or on the couple of occasions that hasn't he's either stayed where he was or he's taken most the the race to struggle by one of our reserves, literally finishing seconds a race slower than he managed when out in front.

(i think he overtook Edberg once and and once i think he also got past 'mr slow but steady' Simon Nielsen).

I'm not doubting his ability or what he can do at BP but those are the facts. Maybe you're getting mixed up with Nick Morris?

We will obviously see how the racing pans out next year at BP but so far we've seen absolutely no evidence that more passing will happen other than folks like yourself and David Hemsley telling us it will. It's a risky stategy but then so was building a track and ignoring all expert opinion on how to do it. So far it looks like extreme blind faith to me... Let's hope by the time you, DH and all the others who are keeping the faith have shown me and the 1500 who have already lost interest that we gave up too early DH will still have a chance of getting some of them back.

Possibly, but with no reason. Like Cook, Morris has scored almost all of his points at BP from the gate. IIRC he managed to pass an obviously disinterested Magnus Karlsson this season. Cook, Hougaard and Morris are certainly stylish and fast riders, but it's false to say they have passed lots of opponents at BP.

We're entering the second honeymoon period at BP. In 2011/12 fans were tolerant of the understrength team, poor racing, inadequate presentation etc, but the gaps on the terraces last season showed how many have given up. Hemsley might recover a few punters for a while with the promises of world class riders and much improved racing in 2014, but if these don't materialise he shouldn't be surprised if the attendances fall again.

in the short term the attendances will go up surely

I thought Ray Wilson was an integral part of the design/shape of the Leicester track?

in the very short term if racing doesn't improve.

The track was designed and shaped, and marked out by DH. I was up having a gander at our new track and I remember the laughter of the people laying the track on the day the fence was being concreted in. lots of 'everyone has told him but it's his track and that's how he want's it!' if i remember rightly.

In one of DH's programme notes from last season's Rye House match he was suddenly mentioning how Len Silver was advising him at the time. That was news to me.. did that happen?

Elite League? I presume you mean the Premier League tarted up a bit with a few extra riders, many of whom dont really want to be there and frequently arn't.

I think we can discontinue to Craig Cook speculation, as today's Edinburgh Evening News says he has signed deals with Edinburgh and Belle Vue for 2014

He also tweeted he hasnt signd for either club as it was wrongly reported
