Django
Line up has been announced here http://www.workingtoncomets.co/news/article.asp?id=100207 Looks like a competitive line up with Cook as the hot favourite. I'll go Cook, Lawson and Wells as the top 3. Could well be our last home meeting this season so let's hope for a good crowd to sign the lads off in style as I think it's been a good first season for the promotion Wonder if Cookie will get Roynon's track record? He's stated he wants it badly so this may be his chance My suggestions for the last rider would be Kenneth Hansen, Kozza Smith (is he fit?) or Richie Worrall
Lioness
It highlights just how bad a year its been at Ashfield that not a single Glasgow rider is in the field (NOT a go at Workington, just a reflection on the Tigers year). Looks like they have gone for a well balanced field - too many clubs bring in one or two of a much higher standard, this looks as if it has the making of a good nights racing. I'm shouting 'Come on Theo' but cant really see past Cook
jenga
and its only a tenner to get in. maybe a free prog thrown in .. track is now bigger on the inside because of the rugby pitch alterations for the rugby world cup. 63 seconds would be a good time, time to make amendments to the track size and establish a new t/r think lawson holds the best time this year with the new track shape/size... Lord Lucan
Not a bad meeting under the circumstances, racing a bit processional at times but little effort spared nonetheless!! Rene deserving winner, looked quick all night and definitely wanted the title tho to be fair to Cookie, he did look pretty nigh untouchable when starting from level terms, busting the tapes 1st up cost him big style? Hope Ulrich is OK following his back flip, looked pretty damn hard that fall!! A mention also for the member of the crowd who was taken ill, hope that's not too bad either, Best Wishes to both. Some non committal answers from a couple of riders for next year and some more positive ones from a couple of others left us in the usual "keep em guessing" state for the winter months but deffo looking like most could be back if the price is right!! Good Luck to Millsy if he doesn't come back, I've always said, and he confirmed last night, it's purely a machinery problem with him, just no speed to compete properly at this level, if effort paid money he would not have been in the position he's been in nearly all year and that's where the Catch 22 comes in, no points, no money, no investment potential, cant get out of it? Best Wishes Chris here's hoping next year will be more fruitful for you!! Well, that's a very early and unwelcome finish for us now, end of March til we get cracking again, six months is gonna be a long time?? Would also like to offer my Thank's and Best Wishes to all the staff connected to Workington Speedway for all the effort put in to making this season as good as it has been, we may have come up a bit short but it hasn't been through want of trying, if next year is as good, if not better then I will be a very happy camper!! One last word tho, during the off season, please track staff, get rid of that banking when you put the air fence up and.... "GET SOME DIRT DOWN"!!! Thank You and Good Day. Lord Lucan
Thought the track was good last night, put some EL tracks to shame! Been good for the last few weeks, really smooth and fast but... needs more dirt, latter stages of the meeting saw nearly every rider just going follow my leader round the outside, the "only" place there was any grip?? Don't understand why the blade was not brought out to shift some shale back to the inside instead of just wasting time with that pointless "wonder wheel"!!
