The White Knight
I certainly think that it would be better over two Nights. On Monday the production seemed so frenetic it was ridiculous.
orion
For once I going to agree with my old mate Sidney to be fair on watching it on tv it's good but being at the match it's like watching paint dry and it's kills the feel of the meeting with all the hanging about . YerRopes
Agree with you Sidney, it's OK to watch both on TV on the one night, but a nightmare to watch live as the meetings take so long... Â Hence I watched this year's semi's on TV due to past experiences - especially bad at Cov in 2010 with no big screen (not a dig at Cov).. God i am overwhelmed Orion! You are right though they're was loads of hanging around.I would rather if on the same night be able to go home and watch the other semi on the video plus without it being rammed down your throat. TheReturn
I guess they are only raced on the same night for Sky... not a problem they will have next year from what I am reading. Problem solved.
The White Knight
I guess they are only raced on the same night for Sky... not a problem they will have next year from what I am reading. Problem solved. Â And therein lies the problem. Speedway has bent over backwards to accommodate SKY. In a very real sense Speedway has prostituted itself to make itself acceptable to SKY - Play Offs, Double Points, Jokers and yes, even Helmet Covers etc. Â Now SKY will just walk away leaving Speedway in the lurch and minus a lot of Supporters who gave up because of the aforementioned sops to the Television Company. Â It certainly proves that, whilst Speedway has been pretty good for SKY - I'm not sure that SKY has brought ANY long term benefits to Speedway. TheReturn
I'm not sure that SKY has brought ANY long term benefits to Speedway. Â I guess it depends how much money the BSPA/clubs earned from Sky.. and what happened to that money. But from where I am sitting, I can't argue you with you that it does not appear to have been a good thing for speedway, unless their money saved a few clubs of course. Â ................. or perhaps there aren't any.

To be fair it's imposible to tell ..for we know without it speedway could be in a a lot worse state if not for sky ..it's silly to suggest thou people have left the sport because of the play offs double points etc

The White Knight
I have spoken to a number of ex Speedway Supporters who have left because of Double Points - I have spoken to none who have left because of the Joker and Helmet Covers and I have spoken to LOADS of people who think that the Play Off System is VERY unfair. Â Now I have been as honest as I can with you orion. Believe me when I say that there ARE people who have left because of Double Points, and not just a few, I KNOW this to be true. You may not like it - but - I do NOT lie. Â Just noticed your comment about "this bloke at Newcastle" - well NO - I'm sorry to disappoint you but the folk I spoke to were from all over the place on my travels - but NOT at Newcastle. The good folk I stand beside at Newcastle DO dislike the Play Offs though, they also detest the Double Points Rule too. Â It's been a little while now, but when the Bees were in semis and finals, I felt exactly the same It's great for the TV viewer, because it all revolves around Sky, so sitting at home it's generally non stop, or pit interviews etc to fill the gaps. But it ruins a meeting when you are there and I think disrupts the momentum too. Â I think we may have a totally different scenario next year though...

moxey63
The Play-offs being on the same night is like being at one of those all-you-can-eat outlets, taking as much in before the feeling of fatigue, becoming bloated and then boredom wears in. There is only so much taste buds can take in at once.
