Bagpuss
I agree, seems ridiculous to be going to Brum on the Danish Final night when we were only there a few weeks ago. Hopefully three good guests have been long booked, but it really does make you want to tear your hair out.
Trees
Of cos we do, and what makes you think Buster/Rob dont ? I don't but but but but but but but ....was there really no alternative date :-(
Star Fever
I don't but but but but but but but ....was there really no alternative date :-( Agreed - its totally ludicrous Birmingham must SURELY realize a lot of Lynn fans will be put off? Might be a better chance of them winning but not good for their gate :/ Was planning a trip to this one but won't bother now if half the team is missing - had enough of that last year thank you. I'm really pleased to see Lambert make the U21 GB team. He has a big future ahead! So am I but geez. . . thats another away meeting (Leicester June7) we'll need a guest, or 2 if KB isn't fit by then . Who the heck could replace him anyway? semion
For Brum would the following fit Wuffy for NKI Nicholls for Bjerre Wells for Porsing ? ? ?

pointsmeanplayoffs
Didn't realise we were without Robert at Leicester. Replacing Lambert at Leicester will be tough, but won't he have a 'proper' average by then? Isn't it 4 home and 4 away? He'll do his 4th away meeting at Brum on Thursday by reckoning. On current run rate, he's due to have a 6 point CMA (well done lad!!!)by my maths which should mean we can bring in a decent EL guest or have Porsing, Rory and #teamlewis cover his rides as R/R Not till June though so I think I'm getting ahead of myself! semion
As Long as he is fit, that excellant news. Still think we will get what we usually do at Lakeside. Sod all.
Star Fever
Glad to hear KB should be back Monday. We might nick a point there for a change, who knows? Tonight v. Swindon has showed that guests just don't work for us and its more of the same at B'ham tomorrow i'd guess. So that's 1pt lost tonight and probably 4pts lost tomorrow. Is this the start of the end of what finally looked like our season?
Bagpuss
'The start of the end' is a bit dramatic. We've still picked up points in every meeting so far and we'll be back to full strength on Monday. Really need to get Rory going soon though, although winning meetings while firing on nowhere near all cylinders is encouraging I guess. September is the time we need to peak and hopefully that's how things will transpire. Edited May 14, 2014 by Gordon Bennett

Tomorrow's farce won't help either.. I know all the top Danes are missing but can't believe Nicholls Watt and Fricke are the best guests available. If we're struck down by more injuries as the season progresses and thus more inadequate guests, the points we lose could make all the difference to a play-off place or not - It happened last year after all And if Louis Kerr gets crocked gawd 'elp us The start of the end ? Ffs. Is it being so cheerful and optimistic that keeps you going ? Nope - just being realistic. Edited May 14, 2014 by Star Fever
semion
But we ain't been struck by injuries. Bjerre should be back on Monday. The best is yet to come from Rory and Lambert. Team Lewis will also continue to improve IMHO so will Porsing. Good enough for the play-offs yes good enough to win it ? Who knows come October. Let's worry about that if and when that is a possibility Edited May 15, 2014 by semion
g13webb
Big disappointment last night, in so many ways. to lose points at home is not something I accept easily. But there were many things I thought were wrong, all having a bearing on proceedings. First the positives, we had three riders last night who really came to the fore. majestic Niels, Young Porsing and FT King Kerr. They all showed when it matters they can deliver. Next to them Scotty tried hard, was never going to be the adequate replacement for Kenneth, but he did battle. Bikes seemed slow, but they always do....Young Rose had a meeting to forget. Feel sorry that he was forced out twice and got no protection from the useless ref. The first, was so blatant, even a blind man would have seen him being hit from behind. the second was more constructed and a call for all 4 back would have been an easy call. Sitting in the Royal Box, Rose had nowhere to go and just laid it down..... Young Lambert had a night to forget. His last ride when he battled for that brilliant second place wasn't enough to forget his other fruitless outings. he seemed to have bike issues, but a quick gesture from his watching mother soon cured that thought.... A good captain has to lead by example and Rory is falling short on this big time. Its all very well being at the pit-gate motivating and congratulating the riders, but his first priority has to be scoring points. Last night he was pitiful. a far cry from the Rory we once knew. the only person he beat was an out of sorts Gustafsson. I know the season is young and we have time on our hands, but we need Rory leading from the front with quicker machinery. Scoring them solidarity points is not enough. My biggest concern last night was the track. Probably, not alone with my thoughts, but I don't think making the track that grippy does anyone any favours. The racing is processional and spread out, making the whole night a gate and go track. The Norfolk Arena is better than that, It tarnishes the evening and creates a big leveller of the riders. I'm sure with less muck and less grip, the spectacle would be more entertaining and the better riders would find the drive when they went looking for it. Again, Niels was brilliant last night.
Daniel Smith
I think we're at the point now where we need to swap Lambert & Porsing around. Lambert has better protection from Iversen winning races and Porsing the better gater to maybe cover a poor Schlein
semion
I think the home form so far this season has been a case of getting away with it. Each week we have never had all 7 riders on song, Most weeks its 5 at best. Even NKI has had an off night ( by his own high standards). Rory just doesnt seem the same rider than ended last season. He looks low on confidence and his bikes seem to go backwards at times. Lets not forget riders get paid by what they score, so I am sure he will be working overtime to get things back on track. As for Young Lambert, I really dont know what people expect. He is 16 learning his trade a 3 point rider, has to go up against 3 heat leaders and 2 second strings in his rides, yet is performing above his starting average. When you look at other clubs and their development riders, I wouldnt swap Rose for any of the 2nd picks. The boy is a massive talent, but like all riders he has to pay to learn his craft. He will have good days and of course he will have bad ones. I think Once Rory clicks, and Lambert gets off the start level with the other riders on a regular basis we will see some big wins coming our way.
MrMungo
Lets not forget riders get paid by what they scoreThat is a sweeping generalisation by most Speedway fans, and is not always true. The new format makes it pretty tough for 3rd heat leaders. Some are dealing with it well, and kicking on, but there's a few out there who are struggling for regular points. semion
Are there riders still paid a Guarantee ( Guests Bookings aside) In The Elite League ? If so Mungo, then I bow to your superior knowledge on such matters. I think a lot of the riders signed up before the new format was released, I would suggest the heat leaders at most clubs would have been asking for more money had they known the format.
