stevebrum
Schlein is better than the aforementioned Barker, Worrall, King and Bridger by a country mile, That`s just one opinion, but averages indicate differently.
Daniel Smith
That`s just one opinion, but averages indicate differently. You're right, averages show they're all sh!yte on the European tracks and Schlein isn't. That's where GB get battered every year

Bagpuss
But Cook has virtually no European experience and struggles round Lynn. Therefore Rory would be stronger in the SWC.
Daniel Smith
Perhaps, averages show Cook is already better in the EL than Schlein right now. And your point is??? Seeing as the conversation is regarding riding on the World stage, EL averages don't mean a thing and I don't believe you're stupid enough to think otherwise. You're now arguing for the sake of it. Lets make this simpler for you Schlein Would Trample All Over Worrall Cook Bridger Barker On European Tracks Which Is Where GB Fails Year In Year Out Yet your answer is always so & so's EL average is better. Dear oh dear Steve Anyway, no more from me on this subject on this thread as it's the Stars team thread. There is this one if the conversation needs to continue http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=75795

g13webb
Sunshine speedway at the Norfolk Arena takes off this week and, for a change, the weather forecast is favourable. Action starts Friday evening with the open Press and Practise Day. Then Sunday is well manic, Up early to watch Lewis win the first round of the F1 from Australia, then go to Madz testimonial. Then home to watch a recording of Liverpool beating the Manc at old Trafford played in the afternoon. Then Tuesday comes next, when the Poles are practising round the Lynn Track in the evening and then it's back there again the following night for the official match. What a week...... I quite like this retirement lark........ bring it on....
Daniel Smith
So, what did others make of our P&P?? Absolutely awful turn out from the public. I've never seen a press day so so poorly attended in all the years I've been. Lucky if it was anything close to 100. On to the rider's (Left @ 6.30 so no idea what went on beyond) 1, Iversen - Immaculate, looks ready for the new season and the only rider to look fully comfortable with the grippy early track conditions. Was absolutely flying 2, Bjerre - Hard to make a judgement, took it relatively easy in most parts. 3, Schlein - Announced as club captain for 2014. Struggled early on but the pace certainly picked up later 4, Porsing - A few wobbles but could have been from over pushing it. Had a brown pants moment when turning to early into turn 1 with both wheels on the concrete and his bike fancied straight lining for the fence. I quite fancy him to push for 3rd heatleader purely on tonight. Lambert - Hmmmm looked uncomfortable pretty much all practice, only really got going when the track slickened off towards the end. Awesome style to watch and has real class but see history repeating itself like a recently retired former Belle Vue legend. Kerr - Strange one. Just couldn't get to grips with the grippy track at all. Then had Schlein chase him for a few laps and looked really good. As soon as Schlein slowed Kerr started wobbling about again. Very random, maybe one of those people that works better under pressure. Rose - Like Kerr, seemed to struggle with the early grip and a few wobbles. Conclusion - Cracking top 3/4 but as Baggy has said previously, our reserves & possibly Lambert are going to struggle early doors in terms of pace. If we start the season with grippy conditions like tonight our bottom 3 will beat more opposition riders than not through knowledge. Barring injuries a top 4 finish is a cert
Bagpuss
I'm not suprised the turn out was low with two meetings in the next five days. As for the Lambert / retired Belle Vue legend bit you'll have to expand, its too early

Barring injuries a top 4 finish is a cert I find it amazing how two people can watch the same action and have different conclusions. I was also one of the few that turned up and was impressed with the riders efforts on a grippy track. Neils, and Kenneth both looked like the superstars they are. Rory, as always was a slow starter, but showed later what he is capable of. Porsing looked at home and performed consistently and Lambert didn't let anyone down. Rose, impressed me such, its hard to imagine he only been riding for a year and the only hiccup was Kerr when testing the air fence. but he will be ok . I don't know what you expected to see last night Screamer, but in general I was well impressed, and feel more optimistic this time than I have for years. I appreciate there are many variables that can alter during the season, but I believe we stand as good a chance as any team, to be successful in 2014. My opinion pretty much matched the opinion of both Lewis's when they were interviewed, both admitting they found the early grip tough going and will take some getting use to compared to the NL surface. They both, if the surface remains grippy for the start of the season will beat most of the other reserves easily as they get more time to adapt, whereas most other tracks will be slick. They will improve and that is what I'm looking forward to watching, 3 local lads, in the top league trying to make a career. We've never had that have we?? Not in my time anyway. As for my expectations, it was a practice session and everything I expected was on show. I also expect us to be (excluding injury) comfortably top 4. As a close friend of the Lamberts, I can assure you just because Young Robert put a picture on twitter having a plate of ribs mean he eat like that all the time.....I know for a fact that he is training hard 3-4 times a week in the gym and his mum gives him a good balanced diet......just because of that picture you are going to rib him about it.......;-/
Daniel Smith
just because of that picture you are going to rib him about it.......;-/ There's a joke in there somewhere I'm sure Anyway, not at all will I give him a hard time. I like you will want this kid to succeed but, you only have to look at how up and coming youngsters get battered. Previously Woffy and now Ward would get a real hard time and young Robert had already suffered some abuse from Cradley fans last year with some "You Fat Bar Steward" chants. The reality is, not so much us Stars fans but opposition fans will be expecting big things based on the reputation he's been given from the National League and some continental outings. In fact, the same thing happened also to Lewis Bridger from NL to EL. High expectation but hasn't really progressed from a 2nd strong rider. This kid will be in the spotlight and will need and element of protection, after all he will only be 16 in April. All I'm saying is, he needs to be careful now what he says and does as he will get hammered for it regardless of how small it may seem. Ya get me??
Jive
I thought Niels was the only one who stood out but practice is what the name is, so I wouldn't read to much into if they were looking slow. Porsing looked better the more he got out, Schlein too, the youngsters I felt they just went flat out and got caught out when they realised the track was grippy. Bjerre looked pleased to be back at Lynn and there seemed a really good atmosphere in the pits. 5pm on a Friday was not ideal but with stock cars today I can't really see when they could hold it any other time? Great to have speedway back though!!

Nobody was going to break a leg, but was some decent races. Most of the riders on show did perform in some of their heats, if not in all of them. Neils and Rory looked sharp, and Kenneth got better the more he rode. One or two failed to perform and that must be a worry for their teams. but the man of the day was Madssssssss To complete a memorable day, enjoyed Steak and Chip tea with the wife, watching Liverpool beat the Manc. Like I had previously said I expected them to win, but they battered them. The fact it was only 3, don't sound that bad, but it could have been far more embarrassing. Roll on Wednesday...
