Shock, horror. Was it a secret??[/quoite]

It may not have been secret, but it wasn't official then,so I was just letting people know that it is official now. Sarky

If you saw the Polish press release, (as they are the ones promoting/organising the meeting, apparently) it was 'official' several days ago!!

Not so long ago a team with a top 4 with the quality of Wuffy, NKI, KB and Rory would be common place in most teams. How times change

Really? Which season was it that most teams had two of the top three riders in the world in their line up?

I understand the point you are making, but you are significantly overstating your case.

You need to take Skidder with a pinch of salt, he spends most of his time winding people up in a pretty harmless way.

Hardly a wind-up on this occasion - merely stating a fact - and to illustrate once again how poor communication is in British speedway!! The sooner 'the powers that be' start to embrace social media in a positive and proactive way, they will realise that the old methods of communication eg press releases, are no longer sufficient!!!

I think the idea in this instance was to keep people interested by not saying who guest was until nearer the time but as they have done all the way through the Poles couldn't keep quiet. I think its possible to give too much info too soon and the Poles have done this all the way through, from the first release which Peterborough quickly played down to the statement that it would be a four team tournament over two days. Lynn released the facts when everything was confirmed and rubber stamped and if the Poles had kept quiet about Woffy guesting everybody would be wondering who the guest will be and it would be generating extra discussion and interest.

Really? In a time when information is readily available on social media, you think saying nothing will keep people interested?

I'm with Skidder on this one - you only have to look at the other thread about race formats to see how annoyed people get with lack of information!

Its not saying nothing, its keeping a bit of suspense about a 'special guest' and might have generated some discussion about who it could have been. Constant incorrect press releases like the Poles have provided for this event since November will lead to a 'boy who cried wolf' situation where information is devalued if they aren't careful.

Anyway in terms of a lack of info the Mads testimonial is guilty as charged, three weeks from the event and very little update on who is appearing.

Keeping the suspense going!
