King's Lynn Stars 2014

Recommended Posts

On the PowerPoint presentation, Roger Warnes and Poultec company logos were on it, so I'd imagine both of those companies are continuing with their sponsorship, but no one actually talked about the sponsorship for next season.

"Roger Warns Turkey Stars"

Certainly has a ring to it

Are any other Lynn fans taking the opportunity to help out our young british riders via their gofundme accounts? Lots of small amounts of sponsorship add up!

having sponsored a former Lynn rider from Lynn's PL days with a group of friends and I personally never had as much as a thank you from the certain rider it's a case of once bitten never again .

I've put the odd bean in in the past and likewise no thanks but that doesn't bother me at all. I did it to help them out, not to get anything back.

What I do have a problem with is rider's begging for money then advertising the fact that they've p!ssed a few £ up the wall on a night out (Twitter)

Advice for anyone wanting to put in to a riders kitty who isn't a company sponsor, buy them stuff. Things like tear-offs, fuel, oil etc. You know it's going to good use rather than a night out

Surely it's unfair to tar all riders with the same brush????

no not all riders are the same but for me that's the first and last time it costs nothing to say thank you where as it cost me and others hard earned cash .

Do you have links for these accounts please Theresa? Have tried searching for them with no luck.

Think the Stars have a great team this year and will rightfully start as favourites for the title. Great work from Lyon on the team selections.

I think it’s a very good team as well and credit to the promotion in getting all the riders on board. Pretty sure this is exactly the team they wanted. So, in terms of the selecting the team I think it was probably the easiest job of all teams.
The new regulations; points limit and reserve strategy fell perfectly for KL. KL had the advantage of two protected riders in the reserves draft. The level of those two immediately took the pressure off the building of the 1-5, although probably wasn’t that significant based on the strategy KL were following. Iversen, Schlein and Porsing were all returnees from last year. Lambert has come through the NL team. Bjerre was arguably the most problematic, although he’s very suited to KL and its highly likely they would be his first choice. His position was the least “worrying” anyway as his average was very tasty if KL had needed to go a different route.
Don’t get me wrong, there a lot of good reasons for this; the investment in an NL team, the quality of the track, a promotion that riders want to ride for etc. This is about reaping the benefit of those successes. Most seasons a team or two reaps the benefit of the updated regs, existing riders on attractive averages etc. This season KL are the major beneficiaries.

I see that we have quite a few home fixtures on a Thursday this season, which could prove problematic for those that work at both clubs, and indeed the KL fans who regularly go to Ipswich for their Premier League fix.

I expect there will be challenges and / or individuals announced in due course, my understanding is that it was just official fixtures that came out yesterday?

Maybe there will be, but if you look at the fixtures several teams have meetings before they plunge into EL, so the fixtures shown appear to be 'dates of meetings' rather than just official (league) meetings.

It would be the ideal time for the Mads or Rory testimonial or whatever that has been hinted at, to occur.
