King's Lynn Stars 2014

Recommended Posts

Very happy with the team that's been put together :t: Ultimately, the club's goal is to get into the play offs and win the league (as always!) but will I personally be bothered if we don't manage to do this next year? Not really. For me, win, lose or draw, whether we get into the play offs or not, I just want to be entertained and see some great racing. In the 7 riders we have, particularly from the 4 younger members (Robert, Nicklas, Lewis K and Lewis R) I think we should get that, without a shadow of a doubt. For some people to say we should win the league already is crazy talk. That's already putting unnecessary pressure on some team members!

Quite agree Emma, for me the biggest thing is to enjoy my speedway again and if this team stays injury free I'm sure I will, whether we win the EL or not. Regular fixtures are the biggest thing for me but now we have a side named with five assets including three local lads who have come through the NL team and two top riders who have an affinity with the club its a really exciting time.

Really looking forward to the season win, lose or draw.

are you sure about that!!

Was obviously referring to him riding for Lynn Young Stars

Mike Lee was only going round an empty track to record those fast times, on an exceptionally quick machines, Lambert was racing 3 others riders when he was attaining a very creditable time of 59 sec in the Stoke meeting.. There wasn't a bigger Mike Lee fan than I, and have witness most of his achievements . But at this similar age of turning 16 I don't think there is much to choose between him and Lambert. In Mike's first year of competitive speedway, he rode in 88 matches, riding for both Boston as well as Lynn. including 16 individual meetings. At Boston his CMA was 9.92 and Lynn it was 7,64. He surprised and impressed many people in that first year and I don't see any reason why Lambert won't do the same.

I wonder who will be the first top rider to be embarrassed by being beaten by a 16 yr old????

I sincerely hope you are right about R Lambert as Britain needs riders like him.

PS looks a pretty good team, as does Coventry and ourselves, lets all hope for an injury free season for all teams for what could be the best/closest EL for many a year.

I can only see another season of injuries as riders will be pushing themselves to much for their ability.

I hope I'm wrong as injuries have ruined to many good riders in the past.

All the talk of league titles etc is far too premature, especially considering only Coventry and Lakeside are the only other teams finalised at the moment.

For me, this whole team is about progression. Seeing the three Norfolk lads make the step up to the Elite League with their local team is what the development leagues should be about. As a big Young Stars fan, I'm proud to see them get their chance so can only imagine how proud Dale, Buster & Rob must feel.

Buster said last night that there is no pressure on them. Just wants them to go out and enjoy their speedway. They'll be guided by one of the best team managers in the league and be supported by riders like Niels & Rory.

Over the past three seasons we've seen Niels progress from a steady 7-8 pointer to a genuine world class rider. Porsing came in last year and initially looked out of his depth. But by the end of the season he showed more than enough for most to know that he's a steal on 3.51. There's no doubt there's more to come from Rory. He loves it at Lynn and given an injury free run, no doubt in my mind he'll increase his average.

As Poole showed last year, it's the form going into the playoffs that count and I'll be very surprised if Porsing & Lambert especially haven't come on leaps and bounds by then. If it leads to a league title then that's great, but I'm just proud to see years of running a National League side bear fruit.

You need to rein yourselves in with all these comparisons between Michael Lee and Robert Lambert. Such comparisons, whilst inevitable I suppose, being as he has signed for Kings Lynn, do Lambert no favors at all.

I hope he turns out to become every bit the rider that he is predicted by many to develop into but we all know that just because a rider is predicted in his teenage years to be 'the next big thing', this often turns out to be not the case.

All of us Bees fans will remember when we signed the 16 year old Morten Risager back in 2004 and, of course, comparisons were made between him and Tommy Knudsen (who was 17 when he joined Coventry). As a 16 year old, Risager was very impressive and was on the pace (in a much tougher Elite League) straight away. But he never really developed beyond the rider we signed at 16. Now he is plying his trade as a second string in the Premier League.

Nice to see us with 5 assets of our own in the team, and 2 borrowed from the BSPA.

Iversen is a Peterborough asset as is Bjerre. Schlein is still a Coventry asset isn't he

Serious question - are all your Danes riding in the Danish League??

Think they will all feature in the Danish League at some time but it hasn't been a problem for NKI in the past has it ?

As for comparing Lamert with past 16 year old sensations that were looked at as future World Champions lets not forget David Howe, Savalas Clouting, Leigh Lanham, Chris Cobby, Scott Nicholls, Lewis Bridger, Joe Haines, Daz Sumner, Dean Standing, Paul Whittaker, John Wison and who can forget ..... Justin Elkins !!

Let the lad get on with his career and see where he is in five years time

Can't wait for March 2014! Neeeeeeed my fix ha!

Really pleased and proud that we have these 3 local guys in the team, there is no doubt about it, they will always receive that little extra support being 'homies' O:-)

More than happy to welcome Niels, Rory and Niklas back :-)

We have to be well pleased that Niels enjoys racing in this country enough to include the BEL in what must be a mahoosive racing itinerary!!! As we know there are plenty of riders out there who haven't got that loyalty or who can't be arsed with our league!!! I'd say to our promoters DON'T give those guys any extra practise in individual meetings at the start of our season, they don't deserve it ie this invitational meeting at Coventry at the start of next season that was referred to last night! Look after the guys who are putting themselves out to race here!!!!

I remain sorry that our 2013 captain isn't back for a fourth year, he deserved a berth for all the value added he gave the club. Also Kozza, who will always be Star of the fans!

When is the Heat format being released, can't be Rocket Science can it?

It may be a little harder than you think, to come up with a format that keeps the reserves away from the Heat Leaders and also gives everyone a start from each of the gate positions.

Give it a try and see what you can come up with?

It was announced Thursday that the Peterborough assets are frozen and administrated by the BSPA. No finance is issued to the current and or potential owners in 2014

That may be true, but they will remain Boro assets if a new owner is established. Edinburgh have just thanked Frost and Mahoney for their assistance in signing Vissing..

Must of missed that bit seeing as he's gone to Berwick  also no mention of Peterborough's promotion in the press release

BANDITS CONFIRM THE VISSING LINK

on 14 December 2013.

Berwick Bandits are delighted to confirm their fourth signing for next season. He is 27-year old Claus Vissing, from Grinsted, Denmark. Claus has been anxious to link with Berwick for some time, but as his contract was to an extent in limbo after the closure of parent club Peterborough, it was only late on Friday that full permission was given for him to link with the Bandits (on loan from the BSPA) and his personal contracts were signed and registered. Claus spent 2013 with Edinburgh, and was impressive on visits to Shielfield, both with the Monarchs and in the season's opening Ben-Fund Bonanza, when he finished runner-up. He joins us with an average of 6.89, and will add experience and enthusiasm to our side.
