King's Lynn Stars 2014

Recommended Posts

Whatever fresh ideas he has lets hope his fellow BSPA members are a bit more open to suggestion than they were when he was GB boss!

Agreed 100%!

He gave a few suggestions as to what he'd like to see Skidder, a fuller fixture list, getting away from the rider mind set that the BEL is way down in their priorities, a simplified rulebook, they're pretty big ones imo?

OK, a fuller fixture list has been rumoured by several promoters already, a simplified rule book? Fine, but what changes would he make to simplify it? Changing riders' mindset?? If he thinks the AGM is the place to change that, then fine, but HOW would he go about it? For me it was all a bit too general and non-committal and lacking in specifics! I think most people involved in speedway (except GP riders) want a fuller fixture list, but that's exactly what Buster voted against last time!!

Any changes for the good of the whole sport as a whole that he can influence - all power to his elbow. I was just hoping for some more specifics.....

Changes are needed, but is there anyone amongst the Promoters who really have a clear view to the way forward. With the top riders riding in xyz number of Countries ( plus travelling) they only have a limited number of dates to give to British Speedway. Those dates wont be enough to fill a full programme for each Club ( home & away). So that suggests to me that the big hitters wont be back in the UK next season. So that will leave a very watered down Elite League. If that is the case how much difference will there be between the Elite and Prem leagues ? marginal to my mind. Having said all of that if a watered down league, with more fixtures brings down the admission cost of Speedway, then that has to be a good thing. As the Sport, at £16/17 is over priced, for just 15 heats ( 15 mins) of live action. Maybe we could get 6 man teams over 20 heats and set a lower admission fee. That way the there should be no shortage of riders, fans get better value for money, with more meetings riders wages dont slip.

Well just turn up and peep through the window or get a glass against the wall

Another little idea i had was...Instead of 4 start line girls, hows about 2 females and 2 males... As Speedway has a big female following, a bit of eye candy for the girls wouldnt go amiss would it ? Just picture the scene. Mungo and Baggy in there mankini's at the start line.

As a little side issue, is Baggy sending out his 40th party invites yet ? I think its February, isnt it Baggy ?

The problem is, admission costs will only go 1 way. We'll never see them go down.

Even if you remove all the No'1s at the current prices there will be clubs still struggling to make any profit

I dont know that much so i dont know how realistic this is but how about:

1. Niels Kristian Iversen 9.12

2. Nicholas Porsing 4.00

3. Rory Schlein 6.84

4. Mads Korneliussen 6.97/ Kenni Larsen 7.30

5. Darcy Ward 9.07/ Emil Sayfutdinov 9.00

6. Lewis Kerr 3.00

7. Robert Lambert 3.00

Probably really unrealistic but there you go.

Would be a good team but the problem is think Ward and Emil well Ward will be at Poole and i dont think we will see Emil in the uk but other then that not a bad side maybe Nicki Pedersen at 5 instead.

I know nicki is a good rider but i'd hate to see him ride for king's lynn my second favourite EL team

Good suggestion though, what about that polish dude who won the last grand prix. Or Greg Hancock?

I don't personally believe we'll be seeing the likes of Iversen, Pedersen, Ward, Hancock, Sayfutdinov etc in the UK next year. British speedway needs to reduce the money it pays out to riders and make things more affordable for supporters, so removing the big earners is the first and biggest step towards that.
