Lakeside 2014

Recommended Posts

There is still a lot of things with and around the sport i really dislike however, like the tactical ride and the horrid journey too and from meetings and the sometimes hanging around on cold nights however there is a certain freshness about the sport this season with a new heat format and the younger riders being given a chance.

As for the Hammers team it looks promising but at this stage no one knows what is going to happen, i have seen teams in the past promise so much on paper yet deliver so little, so will keep my feet on the ground in that respect.

What i want more than anything this season is for great racing with good crowds creating an atmosphere that has you leaving the stadium at the end hoping for the next Friday to come around in double quick time.

Prediction Michael Bech will see the biggest increase in both his average and his fanbase at La\keside. He is a very special capture you are getting a very good rider and a rare commodity these days a super likeable showman.

He was certainly flying at P&P last night. Remarkably smooth rider.

How did the practice go yesterday? I see on the Hammers website the team leathers are black this year rather than the claret n blue we have had in the past.

Hope PK looked ok after his bad injury last year.

Cheers

You can't tell much from practice. The new kevlars look much better in the flesh than the pictures on the website and I reckon most fans will approve.. As I said Mikkel looked really good. His actual motor-cycle skills are quite exceptional and I think he just needs experience. He is a typical Dane in the way he rides the bike. Unlike the Aussies who always seem to be hanging off and performing acrobatics Mikkel seems more in the style of riders like Hans Andersen and Kenny Bjerre who kind of sit still and let the bike do the work.

Davey seems much happier in himself and hopefully his personal problems are behind him.

Paul Hurry said PK is "as good as new" and he certainly seemed buoyant . He never seems all that fast in P&P but he is a wily old bird and I think he knows exactly what he is doing and just uses P&P gets the feel of different set-ups etc with trying to set the track alight.

Richard Lawson looked pretty good. Adam Ellis managed to stay on his bike and looked pretty sharp. Even his riding style reminds me of Chris Holder. Jack Kingston had a go and was more or less on the pace and there is talk about him riding when Ben Morley is not available. I think Jack is one to watch this year and very likely to be in next years draft if there is one.

TBH I don't think many people exactly have the Hammers down as play-off finalists but a lot of people were saying they really seem to come a cross as a happy team, and really seem to get on personality -wise, so success or not I think they are going to keep the home fans entertained and keep them coming through the turnstiles which is really what its all about.

I spoke to PK yesterday evening and he told me he is fully recovered from his injuries.

I would endorse what others are saying - collective team spirit looks very good - and yes - Bech was flying!

From Bandits' e-mail newsletter to supporters:

LIAM JOINS THE ELITE: As he consolidates his situation with our Premier League Bandits, teenager Liam Carr has had a call from Lakeside Hammers, who have invited him to ride in their colours at Coventry on Monday, May 5th, and again at Belle Vue in June. Onward and upward,

Liam Carr guests for Ben who rides for Kent on Mondays. Interesting choice, took me by surprise.

So not only does the PL have priority over the EL but the NL does now too? Bwahahahahahaha They're having a idiot laugh at BSPA towers.

This might be contributing to Lewis' up and down form so far this season: http://www.lakesidehammers.co/content/?p=7462

Hopefully he'll get the help and support he needs to get back on top of things off-track soon - all the best to him.

Before anyone comes on here & says things, unless you know someone close to you who has suffered from it please don't make insensitive comments.
